  • i bought this earlier today
when the 'Philips DJ headphones ran out of stock'

it gave me free shipping :)

    • do you know if this one better than the philips DJ? need to but another headphone for the miss :P

      • i'm not sure. i'm a headphone noob x]
        hopefully these are good though!

  • Could someone compare them to the SHL3000 that were the 10 dollar ones and 3100 which are more expensive than this 4500, anyone know if they sound too different?

The only noticeable specs difference is that 31 has 1500 power compared to 45's 1000, and I think a slightly more varied frequency response.

I am asking the same question, the reviews seem recommended this more. they said it has better sound and more comfortable
edit: the -ng side for me now its without mic

      • Ahhh I see, that's not too bad of a neg, just missing mic, I can live with that. Thanks for the info! I ordered one online and hopefully it delivers!

    • Could whoever post this change the title, theres no shipping option for these…

      • there was free shipping but after ~250 click what do you expect ?

        • To change the title so people don't get mislead…

        • I just did ;)

  • People have paid $70+ for these? Makes this an excellent deal, thanks OP!

  • Showing up as $20 now?

  • I wouldn't mind $20 but pick up kills it.

  • +1

I'm still seeing it as $14?

    • Yeah but when you add it to your cart it shows up as $20 for some reason?

  • Does any one know if DSE stores price match online prices? (ie if you show that it's $14 online)

  • Must resist purchase.. Already got hd-25's

  • Got free postage, guess we'll see.

Guys, Can anybody please share a link for a review for the PHILIPS SHL4500GY. I have spent over than 30 min and couldn't find a single review!!!

    • +1

Same here. I have two pairs on hold at DSE. Could someone pls post a review link or share their experience with these headphones?

And there are other reviews but non-English

      • Cheers, are there any non English pro reviews? (I can always use chrome to translate)

        • I couldn't find any pro reviews, most of them customers feedback
          Try to search "shl4500"
It's seems "GY" the color code

        • Cant find any useful reviews. I just placed a collect order never the less.

try scrolling through that list and they may be there

  • Are these different from the SHL4500 models? more Bass than this?

  • This is like the 4th headphone deal in the past 48 hours. I wish there was a deal on gaming headsets for the new consoles that are coming out xD.

I HATE DSE KEEP GETTING WORSE AND WORSE AFTER THREE BAD EXPERIENCES THIS IS THE LAST TIME TO DEAL WITH THEM

placed an order to pick it up from ashfiled DSE store at 1.30 AM (this morning) went to the store to pick up, the manger refused to give it to me for$14! you said the deal over last night I should pick it up straightaway when I placed the order! I told him how come the store is closed! he said its not my problem. ended up paying the $20

will try to complain with their online department about it and ACCC. if did not work will request charge back from my credit card.

    NEVER AGAIN DSE, NEVER

I just came from a DSE too, worst customer service possible,

i was there just looking at the iPad and some freak sales guy comes to me and tell's me samsung is the best and apple sucks and gave me all this fanboy trash, I didn't even ask for help was just going about my business but he kept going on and on about the most pointless crap imaginable, kept saying samsung devices run Linux, except he kept saying LineX, I was in some kind of retarded faboi war without even knowing how I got into it,

I told him main reason I do ipad's is because my data is too important to me and iCloud restores a iOS device to an exact replica incase I happen to lose mine or it breaks, he replies with; samsung has "dropbox" that will back up your entire phone including apps and layout and restore it, what total bullcrap.

what a freak probably hasn't even used an iOS device, and yea they didn't honor any headphone deals, also the stock was hardly there for anything.

DSE is total trash. Sucks how they didn't honor this for you, I hope you get back at them and tell the manager to suck it.

      • LOL That's very poor service and unprofessional. Maybe he is on a sell X many Samsung products and get a bonus type incentive scheme. He should keep his opinions about Apple to himself, unless asked.

I agree, I've visited DSE less and less primarily based on their prices becoming less competitive and secondarily due to the horrible service. I went to the Brighton DSE store and waited in line behind two people getting served. Once the counter was free I stepped up, and the service rep finished his transaction and walked off without so much as an acknowledgment. Came back after a 3 or 4 minutes and he says "yep", I greet him and explain my order of buisness while holding out my phone so he can see/read the SMS, doesn't even bother looking down, just kept starring at me. He then impatiently says "name?" , I ask "of what? The product or mine?". What horrible customer service.

      • Nothing like being treated like a 2nd class citizen as a paying customer in a retail environment. Maybe you were wearing your ozbargain hat, as that can make them hostile because they know we are cheap bastards.

    • +1

Same story with the DSE stores I've visited myself. Can anyone please tell me why Dick Smith employees are so deadbeat? I don't mean to be offensive, but there aren't many countries in the world where a franchise can have such terrible customer service and high prices and still remain in business (what does that say about Aussie consumers and the Aussie retail scene?)

    • I just got my refund after a complained with the store feedback number. The girl I spoke with said he does not have the right to do that and the manger of the area agrees with us. Got the refund from different store to avoid any problems:)

Be aware from DSE ashfiled store Sydney. They are really rode.

Happy with the headphione and the outcome and did not take any think from my time :)

      • Ashfield???
Well atleast you managed to articulate your complaint and get what you wanted.

    • NEVER AGAIN DSE, NEVER

      Until the next bargain?

  • I ordered mine yesterday from 3109, Pines branch

They honoured the $14. but made me wait about 15 minutes while they tried to process the price markdown.

The lady next to me was also picking up these. haha.

    • Can I have a copy of your receipt please?
Because the manager said all orders placed yesterday and pick up them today have been cancel or charged $20 no one was able to pick it up for $14 in any store.

      I appreciate your help :)

      • I blanked out a few personal details. but heres the receipt.

Cheers mate, just need it if the said no body got it for $14 today.
I know it's only $6 but I hate to see it goes to someone does not deserve it.
Prefer to give to homeless person than rude person got it

        • Agree. Hate those staff dick around and make their own policies.

  • For those of you who have bought one pls let us know what you think of em :)

    • +1

overall great if you will get it for $14. I can give it 7 of 10.
its really comfortable and its not on-ear thing.also its really light and the air can goes to your ears which help to listen to music as long as you want.
I have the downtown Philips, I feel the downtown has higher quality sounds but I cant use it more than 2 hours. I found some pain in my ears because of the pressure.

forgot to say the bass not that strong which is disappointment

      • Cheers mate :)

        • No worries

      • the bass is so weak and the treble is so high, it's hard to distinguish the middle and the treble. I've just bought it for 20 bucks today at Adelaide CBD. All I can say is… this is reasonable for that price. overall, the sound is quite soft and nice, not for bass lover

Picked & Collected today from Warringah Mall store for $20. Sound is ok for $20. Build is light & plastic but that doesn't bother me much. Good find!

    :-)

    • +1

Yeah I got it too. Seems great for the price. A big upgrade from the $5 headphones I was using before.

  • Picked up today from Adelaide store. They wouldn't honor the $14.98 price on the scanned receipt stating it was below cost.

    • me too, at noon, I was there

  • +1

Mine arrived in the mail just now.

It's 100x more comfortable on my head compared to my Yamaha HPH-Pro300 250$ headphone! =]

    • +1

I picked it up at Altona gate shopping centre (Vic), When I approached the staff telling him I would like to collect my order, he immediately asked me if the order was one of the headphones. After I confirmed he added:"Ozbargain?" :D Then he processed the order without even asking my order number. The price is $14. I tried it at home. The headphone is comfortable to wear and the sound is really good.

      • He figured you out before you even walked into the store.
Just don't try any ozbargain coupons/discounts with the Soup Nazi!
