I've got a really small size garden (probably around 5meter x 2 meter) which I need to maintain as part of my rental property. I'm inclined to buy a lawn trimmer or mower instead of paying some mob. Can someone suggest a mediocre product and a bargain ?
Bunnings sell an electric Ozito mower which would do the job. I have it and I hate it but that's because my yard is a bit too big for it (500sqm), the catcher is small and it's a hassle dragging an electric cord. For your small strip though it would be fine and save you having to store petrol at your house.
This or a push mower… depends how much exercise you want to have.
Electric corded are fine provided you mow in "arcs" away from the cord. Just run the cord between your legs and they'll guide it and keep it out of the way of the blades.
I also have similar small lawn. I bought Kmart brand for $75 three years ago hoping to last for few inspections. It was completely plastic, very light weight. I initially doubted its ability to mow but it is still going perfect. Try it if still available.
