I always like to buy a Tag heuer Carrera. However I could not justify buying such an expensive watch. I would like to ask if there are any good watch I need to consider within $800-$1000 price range. It should be automatic with sapphire crystal glass.

The lower end Tag's are around $1150 to $1300 duty free if I remem right? Might as well get what the brand you want if not the model.
any Swiss made watch with Swiss componentry that is automatic will be over that price range. with the exception of Basic Tissot that aren't Chronographs and swatch group.
for that price range, I would consider buying a swiss made quartz watch with swiss componentry
Have something out of the Guiness World book of Records; get the slimmest watch in the world.
Titan Edge. Saphire glass, selection of styles, the titanium ones even have scratch resistant bracelets
Tissot are the brand to look for.
In that price range it will be a quartz automatic, not a mechanical.
