  • Eneloops at DS are normally $19.95 for 1x8 pack when on special. So $39.98 forces you to buy two packs if you only need one.

    • +3

For the new range (Rouge or Uomo) the last 2 deals have been $21.50 for one pack.

So, if you are happy to buy two, this actually represents a $3 saving on top of the halving.

What a shame the BOGOF is only on the Rouge range.

They are obviously trying to push those given the Uomo would sell so much better.

  • Any idea if this will be online or instore only?

  • +4

No more eneloops for me. I bought a few last time for Wii remotes for kids. To my shock and horror they chucked them out after they ran out of charge!!!

Maybe they should have "ask your parents before disposing them" printed in bold letters.

    • +18

maybe you should chuck your kids out? ;-)

      • +9

Tried that but got into trouble with DoCS.

        • U guys are great parents and comidians.

        • +2

Lol, you should just teach your kids how to recharge them…

If they don't learn then maybe you should chuck the kids out, then they will feel the pain that a Eneloop has to go to when it is chucked out!

          He's not joking

        • Kids are temporary but Eneloops are forever?
On a serious note though, Uomo and Rouge are 3rd generation while the glitter are 2nd (or 1st?)
While the number of extra charge cycles is not a big deal, the fact that glitter have been sitting on a shelf for 2-3 yrs vs 1-2 yrs for Uomo/Rouge and thus have degraded less, makes them a better deal imho.

        • Just what I wanted to say. And to clarify the glitter packs are 2nd gen (model HR-3UTGA)

Chuck them out and make more. Then tell the next one what an idiot the last one was ;-)

          NVM

        • panasonic makes them? wat?

        • Panasonic bought out Sanyo ages ago. They just haven't finished rebranding everything yet to keep the loyal customers. All future eneloop batteries will be branded Panasonic.

  • Judging by the pic, I would get 12 AA + charger if I go for the Uomo pack?

    • Yes - this is the link to the charger:
      http://www.dicksmith.com.au/camera-accessories/eneloop-quick…
      "… includes a bonus set of 4 x 'AA' eneloop NiMH batteries…"

      • Hi, want to point out its NOT this charger in the deal. I picked up this deal from Burke Street DSE then found they gave me the 16 hour slow charger! When I asked them to supply the 2hour one I'd asked for they said the deal was only for the older charger. So I switched it for the Rouge deal which is better (and keep using my rezap smart charger).

16 hour charger seems to be timer based and only able to charge either 2 or 4 batteries at a time where as the quick charger is able to do individual batteries too.

Here is the link to the cheaper older charger. (even mentions the deal in this post)

Anyway heads up as the DSE staff don't seem to know much about these deals or products.

  • Been looking through eBay as I'm pretty keen on a few eneloop batteries and a quick charger. Anyone's experience with those on eBay? are they genuine or knockoffs?

    Thanks!

    • . Anyone's experience with those on eBay?

I'd recommend just buying from Amazon. (without resorting to third-party sellers)

    • +2

Don't use quick charge function unless you have to, it will decrease your batteries life.

  • Overseas prices for reference:

    $20.19 eneloop 8xAA
$12.99 eneloop AA/AA charger (world voltage, needs $1 US-to-AU travel adaptor)
$18.35 eneloop AA/AAA charger with 4xAA batteries (world voltage, needs $1 US-to-AU travel adaptor)
$16.56 eneloop AA/AAA USB charger with 2xAA (charges from USB port)
    etc.

All prices in USD. 1 AUD = 0.95 USD. Amazon.com
Amazon sells the 1500-cycle batteries in white jacket. The 1800-cycle batteries seen here & are the newer release batteries but I doubt they are so different in real-world use. Don't be sucked into the Dick Smith half price talk, even though I don't doubt they are half of Dick's normal ripoffski pricing. All prices from Amazon exclude delivery but it isn't excessive.

More flexibility to buy exactly what you need rather than the limited discounted packages from Dick, in my opinion.

  • Thanks OP just bought 2 packs.

  • Called DSE Roselands Sydney. Claims the quick charger is not on special. Ill be going in person.

was this in their last catalogue?

    • Yep it was. Picked up a couple of packets. Thanks to the OP!!!

    • According to the catalog (picked up in Melbourne) it states model code S4517 which is the code for basic slow charger not the same code quick charger (s4518). Unless they make a mistake you won't get the quick charger using this deal. If you really want the quick charger I just found that Masters have it for $29 which is a lot cheaper than DSE at $49.99.
      http://www.masters.com.au/product/900046941/sanyo-eneloop-qu…

hmm.. actually thats a good deal isnt it?

Also just read this on Eneloops FAQ site which makes me happy to avoid their quick charger (basic rules of NiMh however given the excitement over a battery specific charger its easy to forgot this fact:

Ahough it is possible to charge an eneloop battery in a "Quick Charger", it is not recommended. We recommend charging eneloop batteries in a Ni-MH charger that is 2 hours or more. Charging eneloop batteries in a "Quick Charger" can reduce the overall life of the battery. It is strongly recommended to use eneloop, Sanyo or Sanyo NiMh battery chargers. We only warrant eneloop if used with an eneloop, Sanyo or Sanyo NiMh battery charger.

Actually that last line is a bit of a joke / highly suspect?

  • Damn was going to post this deal but you beat me to it ! I reckon it's a good buy $40 for 16 rechargeable eneloop!

  • Free delivery on their website

    Charger + UOMO battery

    2x Rouge Battery

  • +1

It's not free delivery on the BOGOF deal. Only free delivery if you order the single pack for $39.98, which I did by mistake because it said it was buy one get one free on the web site. I didn't see the other one that actually showed 2 packs in the photo. I had to call up and cancel the order and then reorder the other one, which had $4.95 shipping :(

The first one I ordered with free shipping, but is only one pack, even though it says "Buy One Get One Free Offer ends 13-Nov-13" on the page.
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/mobile-phone-accessories/eneloop…

The one I had to order instead with no free shipping, but is actually 2 packs of batteries:
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/camera-accessories/eneloop-tones…

The first one is dodgy and misleading.

  • FYI, this deal is still available but it's coming up as delivery only and is $5 shipping (at least to WA).

    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/camera-accessories/eneloop-tones…

So not quite as good as before but still not bad! Procrastinated too long, meant to get these the other day DOH!

  • Just got a couple rouge packs…

The deal is on till the 25th, so if you don't want to pay shipping, just wait till you happen to go by a DSE.

  • Back up to $79.96 for 2 packs.

  • Please bring back this offer.
