There has recently been an avalanche of discounted PC video cards deals http://www.ozbargain.com.au/tag/video-card presumably due to the release of new models; along with comments like "Doh! I just bought a ??? at $$ :-(". I would like to avoid that but not miss a good deal on a run-out model. I am specifically interested in a mid-to-high performance/memory card for stereoscopic 3D gaming and I am not a complete n00b in this domain but a miser rather than a habitual/serial upgrader on the bleeding edge. Any advice/opinions?
When to buy a run-out PC video card?

Oh. I guess I better get one soon/now if I want Nvidia then, thanks.
There you would be looking for a 680 (770). It seems the 760 Ti has more recently replaced the 670, so you might have some luck with a 670.
Otherwise because AMD is so much better value for money right now, there are cuts coming through for Nvidia.
Ended up buying the $299 MSI HD 7970 3GB OC TwinFrozer from this deal http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/121265 though I have held off claiming the bundle hoping more/different games will be made available.
Best deals are to grab a GPU with just has a new name, but buy it under the old name. most of the Nvidia cards have gone now, but there are certainly deals to be had an a 7870 or 7970, both of which are repackaged as R9-270X and R9-280X.
