$8.99 US D with FREE Whois Privacy, is not bad.

  • If you represent the company, please say so in your post.

    Sure, I've edited the post.

  • I can vouch for this company, when I bought from them a few months ago, I found I already had hosting elsewhere (that was prepaid for 24 months)… So I asked about their moneyback guarantee and they gave it to me. If I didn't have that other hosting, I'd still be with LayeredNetworks :)

Would this still be a bargain if it wasn't 50% off?

Also, my dad currently has his site located somewhere else for 10x this rate. If i want to transfer it, is it just a matter of FTPing all his files onto the new host?

    • That depends on the setup of his site, ie if he's using MySQL databases etc which would require a bit more work.

But in general, yes, a hosting swap is a reasonably simple thing to achieve.

    • Just ask the layerednetworks to have it transferred, provide them with your other hostings cpanel acc's pw and username and it is done with ease.
Question for Layerednetworks… we have to buy a domain right in order to receive the free whois.

  • Bah why can't it have Python, I'd be signed up now. :o(

Speaking of which, anyone know any decent (and reasonably cheap) Australian or USA hosting services that have Python?

    • Depending on what you want to use Python for. Most cPanel boxes should have Python installed (cPanel = CentOS/RHEL, where yum the package manager is written in Python). So it should usually be able to use them as CGI scripts.

If you want to do anything more complicated, try VPS. If you want to use shared hosting, try WebFaction.com where you can run your own Python persistent process. More expensive than your average cPanel PHP hosting though.

  • We can easily transfer your account over as long as your current provider uses cPanel. Otherwise it will be a bit harder.

The free whois privacy only comes with the domains you register or transfer with us.

    Cheers.

    • thanks i will investigate

  • If I chose the cheapest one, will there be an option to upgrade to the next package up later on at the 50% off for life price? ie. I don't need the business level right now but will in about a year's time. Can I get it upgraded to the business package for 2.98usd next year?

  • +1

When you do want to upgrade just contact us and we will let you use that discount.
