Easy Way To Make As Much Money As You Want - via Woolworths self-serve checkout

Hi,

Quite by accident today I realised that you can trick the woolworths self-serve checkouts to give you 1 to perhaps 4 cents more than they charge you for!

Do it once & make 1 cent…Do it 1,000 times and make $10!

So it's like this:

  1. (You may not even need to do this first step - it might work with just getting cash out). Buy something, and choose 'debit card with cash out'
  2. Tell it you want an amount of cash out that ends with a 1/2/3/4 cent amount (eg 24 cents)
  3. In the case of 24 cents, it will give you 25 cents but only charge you for 24!!

It worked for me with the above amounts (ie 24 cents charged, 25 cents out). I didn't try other amounts, but I suspect you could tell it you want 1 cent out and it would give you 5 cents. Do THAT 1,000 times, deposit your 1,000 5 cent pieces to the bank and you've earned $50 (5,000 cents).

I'll see you in the line at woolies sometime ;-)

you have way too much time

    Here is my calculation:

Do your trick once will need say 30 seconds. so to do it 1000 times = 1000 * 30 = 30,000 seconds = 8hrs 30 min approx …I don't think its work spending a day (8hrs) at Woolworth to grab $50.

pfft I'm sure you could get it down to 10 seconds with practice
      that's about $18 an hour
just get a bunch of 6 kids to stand at the self serve outlets
      pay them $10 an hour
they work 8 hours a day
      times $8 profit an hour
      times 6 kids
      $384 a day

you are also assuming those checkouts hold over 20,000 5c coins. chances are your scheme will be completed once u reach a few bucks and u'd have to move to the next woolies.

Which is fine, but i got a feeling the petrol required to drive around every woolies makes it not worthwhile :(

      • just get a bunch of 6 kids to stand at the self serve outlets
        pay them $10 an hour

And then goto jail for child labour!
        :)

yes but just before you go to jail for child labour, you will be losing $96 per day! you're paying every kid $10 per hour, 8 hrs per day, X 6=$384(profit)-$480(wages)=-$96, and that's assuming you're not paying taxes, super, petrol etc

So… in the time it took you to type it and me to read it, I could have made… about 3 or 4 cents…

use your ingdirect orange everyday card and get a $0.50 bonus each time you withdraw $200. maybe $200.03 gives you $200.05. who knows

    • Would be mildly interesting to find out if it does work for only cash withdrawals…

It's like fill up your car with $50.02 of petrol at the bowser, and you'll only have to pay $50.00 cash… 2 cents of free petrol…YIPPEE!

  • I haven't tried it either but do know on any PURCHASE ending with 3 or above i.e 3.33 it will become 3.35 therefore losing 2 cents. Interesting though that it can become in our favour for WITHDRAWALS.Something to try.

I was doing that a lot last year.

But you have to buy something, it doesn't work if you're just getting cash out by itself. I've tried, it says the amount is invalid.

Also, earlier this year, I did:

    mattgal on 30/10/2013 - 12:45
use your ingdirect orange everyday card and get a $0.50 bonus each time you withdraw $200. maybe $200.03 gives you $200.05. who knows

And the self serve machine malfunctioned and didn't give me my 200.03

So I had to get assistance and the attendant got the manager to check the CCTV just to make sure the money didn't come out and then they personally handed me $200 and 5 cents. Red face moment there.

But win win, got 52 cents profit.

    I've stopped doing that now.
