  • jimbaran. hands down.

    • Seafood on the beach (without the dumping on shore waves)> friendly people> Great restraunts eg PEPeNERO
      great shops.
$5 cab to great sites like monkey temples and a good quiet place to come back to after visiting the waterbom park in the white trash filled & hecktic Kuta.

  • If you book Club level accommodation at Intercontinental they'll meet you as you step off the plane and escort you past all the queues of people at the visa and immigration controls to a nice private suite and give you some drinks while they go and collect your luggage for you and do all your formalities…not many places you can get away with that rock star treatment…you only have to stay at the Intercon for 1 night to get that deal and then move on to somewhere else if you like…but it's a pretty good resort…and it's in Jimbaran Bay also.

If I went back, I'd be looking at Nusa Dua I think.

    • You can book this service separately, normally referred to as VIP arrivals package. It is a really good idea! I was in Bali two weeks ago and it took over an hour to get through the immigration line before collecting bags. This service would have saved at least an hour of waiting in line.

      • +1

True, the VIP service is $50 and well worth it!
So strange for the first time though, a guy leaves you, taking your passport away, another guy gets your bags and then pays officials to let you walk out with so much as a bag check!
Process is about 10-15 mins plane to car.

  • Seminyak might be a good option for you. It's away from the crowds but still easy enough to get to all of the action in Kuta. Also easy to get to all of the attractions north of Kuta too such as Ubud, Tanah Lot, white water rafting, safari park, etc. Jimbaran/Nusa Dua are good options if you are happy to stay at your resort but if you are wanting to visit any other area it is a real pain to battle the traffic out of there. Take a look on the map and see the bottleneck shape of that area.

    • For 2000 Rupiah (20c) a trip via the new expressway solves the traffic problem so Nusa Dua isn't the traffic pain anymore.

  • My daughter is currently at the Grand Mirage at Nusa Dua. She is very happy with it. It has a huge beach front. She is not having any trouble getting around. She saved a lot of money by booking with Wotif.

  • Nusa Dua as the whole area is secure & is a town itself within the Bali perimators. Have booked again @ the Mantra there for next month. Getting around the rest of Bali is easy with a blue cab ( as they have monitored fare charges -won't be ripped off )Nusa Dua will give you peace of mind with a family as the total surveillance around the area is strong.

    • blue cab.

Be careful, only blue bird cabs have standardized meters, there are 2 other companies who have nearly identical cars (and logos) but don't have blue bird written on the top light!
Not taking a bluebird cab means you'll have to barter at the end of your ride (5-10 times that of a blue bird)
I've found they can be aggressive if you offer the normal fare.

  • I like sanur, Quite relaxing there…
