  • size would be helpful and do you require silver finishing?
it usually adds extra couple of hundred if you do

    • we are professional couples so i would say anything above 300L should be good

      silver finish will be good

      • Appliancesonline.com.au
Obviously dependant on your location but was the cheapest fridge i could get installed in my house, and my old dead one taken away free!

        • yep, this site will help you sift thru the models as they will have more on this website then most places have on the floor

S/S finish will take away from your choices as they have less options
keep in mind if you want a left or right hinge…if it doesn't matter your choices are more open

          Brand wise
i would steer away from whirlpool and bosch, heard many issues with the compressor in the past

          Westinghouse/Kelvinator are on par
Electrolux - looks and feels slightly better than other two but price reflects this

I did not do any research on LG/Samsung because they do not have left hinge models (they probably do but all the places i went don't stock or special order it which means have to pay Full RRP) and i had to have a LH one

ps. most places will price match with applianceonline

  • About 2 months ago my Samsung side-by-side fridge started to make noise, then ice built up (non freezer side) and eventually milk went bad quicker (can only maintain a minimum 12-15 degree temperature).

So I had a repair guy over to fix it up (turns out to be a sensor failure). I asked him which refrigerator brand he liked. His answer was Mitsubishi and Bosch because they are less complicated, and generally last longer (do your own research).

    I would recommend you to
    * Find out which brand, fridge capacity and type to buy from Appliances Online
    * Then read some reviews for the model on ProductReview
    * Finally check price on AnyPrice (our site!) for a potential price match

  • our Kelvinator N640 finally gave up the ghost. The energy rating at the time of purchase was 2040kwh per year 3 stars. Now a similar size fridge uses around 600kwh per year. That's less than a third of the consumption. With electricity prices going up and up, the new fridge will pay itself off in savings in electricity bill.

  • I can only comment on what I have used and heard. On my last purchase of a fridge I asked around a few fridge repairers and was recommended to get a Westinghouse. Our one is now 6 years old and still as quiet and cold as new. Was told to stay away from LG, Samsung, Whirlpool, F&P even (won Choice award 2013). But I'd say they have improved now especially in the warranty area. Look out for extended manufacturers warranty (not store warranty). Electrolux is similar to the Westinghouse, and has a well reviewed compressor.

I was looking for a friend recently and this one popped up:

    510L on sale at HN $1498 http://www.harveynorman.com.au/kitchen/kitchen-appliances/fr…
    Appliance online $1781 http://www.appliancesonline.com.au/510l-westinghouse-fridge-…

Just get a good warranty. They will all keep your beer cold.
