Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition - PC Key at Games Planet for $8

100

Not much to say, was looking for Dark Souls Prepare To Die Edition on PC and found it at $8 and thought it was quite a good price

As suggested by Bossmode, refer to this mod to increase speed and game resolution: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=488240

Also be aware that it's likely the end of Game For Windows Live in July 2014 will mean the end of Dark Souls multiplayer (and possibly the solo as well as it relies on GFWL for DRM… though it's quite likely it will be patched officially or unofficially…)

  • Anyone know if they have said whether they'll make a non-GFWL version like was done for Batman:AA/AC and Bioshock 2?

Debating whether I should play it more before it stops working completely when GFWL shuts down or not play it so it doesn't shut down just before I finish it or something…

Basically, once GFWL dies, so will Dark Souls' multiplayer. There haven't been any plans to shift it over to a Steamworks-based game. Nontheless, we can hope.

      Obligatory Dark Souls post:
If you're considering purchasing this, you should also consider downloading this mod which increases the frame rate of the game to 60, among a slew of other things you can find the mod here.
Be sure to alter the option files that are inside the download, as those allow you to optimise your gameplay.
Additional mods for the game may be found here, but require third-party programs

  • I bought this from Gamersgate for $7.49 USD a while ago. You get some nice deals from time to time.

This game is well worth $8. Started it a couple of weeks ago and absolutely love it.

    The Steam site states:

Notice: Microsoft Xbox 360® Controller for Windows® (or equivalent) is strongly recommended.

If GFWL is not removed, the game will not be allowed to sell on steam after july 2014.

Pc games have a very long shelf life and make money over a decade after release, so patching in steamworks seems an inevitability.

  • Quick question regarding this game… i have the PS3 version and it sux because of the resolution and the fps >_< so $8 for this on my rig would be nice… but is there solo mode?

i hated the fact that on the PS3, if your online for PSN… you get invaded by some beast people that take 1 dmg from my drake sword… its impossible to play as a newb under those conditions…

You can either play offline or online as a 'hollow'. Google it for more info.

That's what you get for using the Drake sword.

      • i thought that was the strongest weapon you can get early game… i'm like lvl 5 i think on ps3 lol

        • It's a perfectly fine sword. It's considered a very strong early-game weapon, yes. That, and also the Black Knight Halberd, which is practically god-tier. Especially for speed runners.

Yeah so i bought it last night, gonna try and see if i'm better at this game on PC then i am on PS3… damn black knights always killed me…
