Selling an expensive item on eBay. How to transact using escrow?

hi all

so i'm selling an expensive item on ebay and i now have a buyer. On the ebay guide they say they recommend using escrow.com

but when i clicked on the link, it redirects to escrowaustralia.com.au which is now a dud site

the US escrow.com site only transacts in USD, not AUD

Has anyone used this before and is it a legit site? I assume it is otherwise ebay wouldnt wanna associate with it, but the old content worries me.

Has anyone sold anything expensive on ebay before and what did you use? Should i also consider dealing in person, but in this case, how do we make sure both parties are happy i.e. do they put the money in my bank account first? It is quite a large sum so i'm just not sure what to do. Appreciate any help i could get!

    You could deal in person and accept a bank cheque (not personal cheque).

    No real need. If they pay by Paypal and you post by registered post, you'll be covered for some stuff (such as non-delivery etc).
