I just bought $500 Kmart Gift Card instead of Coles, and then i ring them up and told refund is impossible.
And that's so stupid the cards aren't activated yet.
What are my options? to exchange Kmart gift card to coles gift card? Anything that wont cost me more than $10.

I was dumb and didn't read that after i clicked coles gift cards and they still have kmart cards in there.
If you get a staff member who doesn't know or care about the rules, it may be possible.
I once got a staff member who was willing to help me consolidate various Coles group giftcards into one Coles Myer giftcard. I tried to do that again recently, but the staff member actually read the rules and saw that it's not possible to buy giftcards with giftcards.
How about using the self-serve checkout?
Apparently you can't buy giftcards on self-serve checkout. I have never tested this myself, but I do recall a few OzBargainers saying it doesn't work. Doesn't hurt to ask here and try it out yourself!

I just checked the Wish giftcard in my wallet and unlike Coles Myer, it doesn't seem to state the same rule on the card. However, it did mention to check everydaygiftcards.com.au for all T&Cs.
Apparently this was what credit card fraudsters did. But giftcards enmasse
So frustrating, they wont even refund/exchange unactivated cards.
I thought gift cards would be activated at the time of purchase. Where did you actually purchase the gift card from?
I agree with the comment that it depends on the staff member as to whether they let you purchase one gift card with another giftcard.
I sometimes end up with $100 Target gift vouchers. I go to Target from time to time so I usually make a small purchase with the gift card and then purchase a Coles Group or Coles only card for the balance or most of the balance of the card. I've done this several times and none of the staff members have complained or picked up what I am actually doing.
I don't know whether you'll get this lucky at a Kmart store. $500 is a lot to convert in one hit. My plan is that if I am asked about it, I will say I am buying a gift card for someone else. You might not be able to use this story with a $500 card.
Can you buy the Coles gift card from Kmart store?
I know they sell gift cards at Coles/Woolies and I believe you can use a gift card to buy another gift card.
