MacBook Pro 2.6GHz Retina Vs Haswell

Hey guys,
I am not sure what to do, need some help.
I need to buy new laptop and decided to go with apple for the first time. Did some research and found there is new one coming soon.
But I have been offered from a friend a brand new sealed MacBook Pro retina 13" 256gb flash storage 8gb of ram for $1250

Is it better to wait for the new one or take this offer ? As the RRP $1849
If I rejected his offer will be able to get same one with same price or cheaper after the new one released ?
I have one day to accept or to declined his offer :(

  • Hi,

There is a new MacBook Pro (over)due.
This: http://www.macrumors.com/roundup/macbook-pro/ is a summary of what is expected.

If what you are being offered is exactly: Apple ME662X/A MacBook Pro Retina 13.3", i5 2.6GHz, 8GB, 256GB Flash Storage available for $1668.71, for $1250, I'd be very tempted.

You don't know the price of the new one, or when you will see physical stock.

If you reject the offer, the unit your friend has will drop (some) but a ~$400 drop for a Brand New Sealed Unit (and Mac's hold their value well) won't happen overnight.

Yes this exactly the model I have been offered for $1250 I think the RRP $1849 from apple store so it's around $600 off, from where you can get it for $1668.71 ? Or do you mean with tax back ?

      This is the problem

  • I'd accept it.

Then you can wait for the new one to be announced on Tuesday. If if doesn't impress you just keep it for yourself. If you rather the new one, just sell it. You are likely to even make a profit as not everyone will know that a new Macbook is being announced.

If battery life is important, you'd want to get the new model with haswell.

  • +1

Thanks everyone, accepted my friend's offer. Was thinking the new one will be really expensive and I will not able to spend more than $1500 so think I will be good with this one but was afraid this one going to be really cheap after the new one released.
Time to play with it ;)

  • So guys, what do you think? Did I make the right choice ?

    I can't understand apple specs
    Is this

    13-inch: 2.4GHz
    with Retina display
    Specifications
    2.4GHz dual-core Intel Core i5
    Turbo Boost up to 2.9GHz
    8GB 1600MHz memory
    256GB PCIe-based flash storage1
    Intel Iris Graphics
    Built-in battery (9 hours)2
    Which cost $1850

    Better than mine ?

For me the differences in the battery nor that important, prefer to save more $$ than get extra 2 hours.

    • Good choice IMO, you made the choice, be happy move on, don't look back, you may resent your friend for no reason.
Just remember, "once you go Mac, you NEVER go back" (Disclaimer:unless you don't know what's good for you!).
