Qantas Cash Frequent Card

I just received my qantas card, it's a prepaid paywave master card, does anyone know when after loading up money and using the card for online purchases any actually gives me qantas points? Is it basically anywhere money that is spent? Cause that's great imagine if you bought a car, you have a couple of free planes tickets.

  • It's 1 point per $2 of aud spent, and 1 point per dollar of overseas currency spent from what I read.

How long did it take you to get it? It was free right? I'm thinking of getting one too.

  • I don't think you can buy cars on mastercard. The dealer would get charged a % so the only way they would do it would be to pass that % onto you.

Mine was free had the old card, they just issued this new one to me. I was saying a car for example, the great thing is if can be used on anything and you stil get qantas points, the only issue is depositing can only be done 2 ways, bpay and some other way.
This card would be a great with the ing cardif there's no tap and go.
Ing gives 5% rebate that works out to be around $1000 from $20000 spent, the qantas card $20000 spent gives 10000 frequent points which is roughly $1k plane ticket just use the qantas card at places where's there's no tap and go.

    • Are you sure 10,000 points gets you a $1000 flight? I have been using my points for shopping vouchers and 14,500 points only gets you $100.

It's 8000 points (plus taxes) Sydney to Melbourne, so probably around $100.

  • Yeh it's closer to 50,000 points for a $1000 flight

  • Sydney to Perth return or vice versa is 36,000 points which is about $450.
So about $1000 worth of flights would be about 80,000 - 100,000 points.

  • If you are talking about the new QFF membership cards that have a paypass mastercard chip and can be loaded with currency for travel etc. then be cautious. The fees are very high and there is a monthly balance charge after 12 months.

  • A big drawback of this the qantas cash card is the exchange rates. They are typically about 2 cents or more worse than those offered by Citibank Plus if you are converting AUD every time you make a purchase overseas. The small amount of points you generate from purchases overseas means its always a better option to use Citibank plus.
