quick question, i've always wondered about these, whats the difference between this and my 20 dollar stroller?

I mean, we bought a 500 pram cause it was light, easy to fold up and was much better than the cheaper ones, however, as far as strollers goes it seems much of a muchness, the only think i miss is there is no carrage compartment on our 20 dollar one…

      It works better, trust me.

  • A lot of times these recline and have other features like you mentioned we bought a good one for when we travelled as was lighter and cheaper if it got damaged on flights! Depends what you need/ use it for :)

    • I have a few maclarens. They are great but pretty sure this one does not recline.

You can't go wrong with a maclaren, the build quality is superb. Weve had (another model) for 2.5yrs going up & down cobblestone lanes to get the youngster to sleep, dozens of flights (those ever so careful baggage handlers), etc & it hadn't missed a beat. The best thing is they're lightweight, so even the missus can chuck it in the boot without much effort. They're narrow, which makes navigating shops a bit easier.

The only negative would be the small wheels means 4WDing isn't as easy as the big wheelers.

  • I was the same with Pram -bought a baby jogger city elite back in 2011 for $699 which i still consider the best-an all terrain pram, easy to maneuver etc..When it came to stroller-i wasn't going to buy one but last year when i saw a toys r us comet stroller for $5 (now selling for $29) ,i bought one and its is useless..hard to use, wheels don't turn or roll on shopping centers/airports,the only place it works well is on concrete or carpet..

Mclaren's are generally really good for shops or other short distance locations

lol, exactly the same for us… (excpt we bought the target whinnie the pooh stroller which works fine)
      baby jogger in 2011…

    • I have the $5 one as well. It's easy to use at first. Now the wheels have become stiff and hard to turn.

I bought a Maclean Vogue about a month ago at toys r us when it was on sale. I do recommend it. The wheels are big. Built quality is fantastic. A bit heavy though comparing to triumph or quest but I got it for $184 from $450ish which was the most discounted.

The other pram I have, Strider Plus is also pretty good but it's too heavy.

      • Strider Plus is also pretty good but it's too heavy.

and too wide (had one previously)

        • True. I am thinking of getting rid of that. I got it really cheap $415 for the pram and second seat.

I might even get some profit.

  • I've got the globe trotter and it would be good if my daughter liked sitting in prams :(

      velcro & fluffy dresses

  • The cheap ones are really little too - not good if you're tall. The mclaren ones are a bit higher and are alot smoother to push around.

  • When I go to purchase this it comes up as $249 in the checkout?

    • My Bad, sale starts tomorrow….

Just be careful, some Maclaren strollers have been chopping kids fingers off.

The company's response …. there is no danger if the operating instructions are followed.

Heh, tell that to your fingerless 2 year old.

    • I think this problem has been rectified for strollers released after 2012? The hazard no longer exists.

      • +3

Actually the hazard still exists because they chose not to recall the strollers.

And I'm wary of rewarding this behavior with purchases.

        • How does it chop fingers off?

      • Terrible story. Poor child. never allow children near when folding and unfolding any pram.

  • We have a maclaren techno , great quality, easy to steer, light, narrow fits in lots of spaces.
Cons- for some reason MY SON HATES IT. He always looked extremely uncomfortable like he was slumped over and had no where to put his feet. We tried to start using at 6 months as per instructions . I think my son is picky though so we ended up getting a forward facing with a toy bar which he loves.
The maclaren came with a basket which feels incredibly flimsy and ended up getting a hole in it. First time users never put bags on the handles as it WILL tip over being so lightweight. Other than that people swear by it so must be good

Just to reiterate, Maclaren strollers never actually recalled any of their products sold in Australia (unlike in many other countries). And although anything manufactured in the last year or two should probably be considered safe, there's still a fair bit of floor stick in Australia which may be several years old and might be questionable.

And apart from anything, I don't think it's appropriate giving my money to a company which refused to voluntarily recall dangerous products that have seriously injured children from the marketplace.

Then don't, but its hardly an issue for sensible parent whom dont let their kids stick finger into a pram/stroller their fding up. Shiuld holden recall cars because kids fingers get jammed un closing doors?

They should replace the parent IMHO
