Hi all!

I have been thinking about reselling a web hosting service, as I have seen many web host companies offering reseller hosting.

I do have some questions though, is there some sort of legal stuff that I should be aware of? like tax etc.

If you're planning on running it as an enterprise there are a number of issues to consider:

What entity you want to run it in & the legal liability implications of that.

Require ABN & business name.

Decide whether to register for GST (turnover expected to exceed $75k).

Getting a website together with integrated billing/provisioning of accounts.

Making sure you choose a decent provider if you running with reseller hosting because you're business is going to rely on them.

Getting appropriate legal docs setup including terms and conditions, acceptable use, etc.

Getting together a procedure for handling support requests.

Could go on forever about it…

not a bad idea particularly if you already have an idea about where to get customers BUT- I sold reseller hosting to some of my clients and was basically forced into moving to a VPS because of problems with other people sharing my server- lots of spam attacks etc. The host sort of cared, but not enough to stop it happening. So all of a sudden my costs doubled. Luckily I had a couple of extra clients come on board but be careful
