Microsoft Surface Pro 2

Hi there, I am looking to replace my tablet and coincidentally I saw the Microsoft Surface Pro 2 is being released next week. I'm interested in getting it. Does anyone know of any good upcoming deals for it, apart from the RRP release?

As far as I'm aware, it's initially only available online or at HN/JB. At the latter two stores, what do you think are the chances of getting some sort of 'bundle discount' if I purchase two accessories with it (e.g. Type Cover and the Bluetooth Adaptor, about $230 total).

I've got a 28 Degrees card with shopping protection so I can claim on any price drops in April next year, so if worst comes to worst, I'll still probably be buying on launch day because I need to start using my tablet soon..

Thanks for any advice!

Surface 2 starts at $529 in Australia for 32GB with no Type Cover, which is $30 cheaper than last time around. The 64GB Surface 2 will go for $639.

Surface Pro 2 starts at $1019 for the 64GB version, which is actually $20 more than the launch price of the original Surface Pro back in May. The 128GB Surface Pro 2 is priced at $1129, the 256GB model is priced at $1469, and the 512GB version is priced at $2039.

    cant find anything else

  • Before you throw apple type cash at a MS surface 2 pro - look very carefully at the Dell Venue Pro 8 & 11 tablets. Prices are uncertain as yet, but indications are these won't be so overpriced as the MS offerings.

Personally I'd get a proper Android tablet and a cheapo laptop, mind. It'd still be less money.

    • +1

the pricing looks actually pretty decent, hard to see the real value until the i5/i7 pricing is released, but the covers at least are a better deal. can't comment on memory/build quality but.

interested to see bay trail performance as well.

  • Is your purpose to consume, produce content or both? If just consumption, i.e. not creating software content but consuming like email, web browsing, playing games, etc. A surface would be overkill…

If you will produce content, it can potentially be a total hit or miss specific to the individual, so you won't know till you try. Good luck!

    • not sure if it would be overkill to get a surface for consumption usage. haswell boosts up batt life, and the form factor allows for easiar use on the go than a traditional laptop.

although in the end up to the user. I'm thinking that taking notes (with or without stylus), casual browsing, light/moderate gaming, and web browsing would be worthwhile for surface usage. Again form factor is a big plus if you think it's suitable for your needs
