  • Um… which item?

  • Where are you getting this info from? It isn't on the ebay forums or announcement board.

  • … Why are there 3 votes already? I don't get it either. LOL

  • That is why people should always link to the relevant promotion page instead of merchant's home page as it would be much easier for other members to verify.

Usually eBay related promotions are posted to their general announcement page but I can't see anything related to $5 off there. Nor can I find anything on PayPal offers site.

Sorry I have to vote negative for now until someone can provide more details.

  • I have just found the page so I have to bring it back from the moderation queue so this item can have its second chance.

Get up to $5 (AUD) off the cost of this item when you pay using PayPal

You get a big list of terms and conditions that basically say if you pay for an item using PayPal before 29/09/2007 (or before $20,000 pool of money are all given out), the discount of $5 will automatically be deducted from the final price.

Maybe someone can decipher the rest of T&C for me :)

  • I purchased something on the 1st of September, which is within their period, and I didn't receive any discount on my payment. I even checked my paypal account and I was charged the full price as agreed and no credit has been made either :(

Perhaps all of the money in the pool is gone hence why the discount didnt occur and there is no publicity on this offer.

What is also confusing is point 6 of the T&C which mentions coupon.

  • Paypal is just so awful sometimes. If anyone ever has a problem with them, you can file a case with the financial ombudsman. You can file online for free, and as quick as light your case will be resolved -likely in your favour. It is awful with paypal how often you haven't done anything wrong, and they try to take money out your acount etc when other people are scamming.

I hope this is an ok place to let people know about the ombudsman in regard to paypal. If not, my apologies.

  • Can anyone shed light on this $5 off discount? It seems like a scam - especially with 4 negatives already… anyone succeeded with it??

    • I have not tested it myself. It got 4 negative because the original post does not contain any reference on the source of this deal. Then I found the link to this deal on eBay. The terms and conditions is pretty vague and cryptic though.

  • If the payments are automatically deducted for Paypal payments, considering the volume of transactions that eBay goes through on a daily basis and the fact that the "prize pool" is limited to only $20,000, I think this one will have expired before it even started.

  • Terms and conditions apply, see the link in one of the other messages.
