Hi, Can anybody recommend a cabinet maker and give me some idea of price for 4 metres of built in cabinets in a bedroom? opening doors not sliders, fitted with shelves and hanging space, in a good quality material? I know this sound vague but could i get away with it for $2.5k?

I assume you won't need to cut any holes in walls, so it shouldn't be too difficult. You could easily hit $4k with "good quality materials" though, but it really depends. It sounds like a pretty big wardrobe. Depends how high you want it as well. Melamine isn't cheap, doors aren't cheap. If you can source materials and find a builder/cabinet maker to quote labour you might be better off.
Thanks Jane. Happy with painted mdf and I actually really over guessed the dimensions! It's more like 2.6 m! Stegbar website has a wardrobe recliner. I'll get a quote from them as an idea. Can you recommend some places to source components?
I buit a wardrobe about 9m long by 2.4m tall with shelves and full hanging and double hung for a total of no more than $1 thousand for materials + 1 day labour say 8 hours at $40/hr… so a total of about $1,300. I am not sure exaclty on what you need, can it be built from wall to wall, or is it more like freestanding, or is with timber studs/ platerboard lined and painted etc? $4K to invest on wardrobe for a house sounds like a crazy deal to me. My father is a builder and recently quoted someone at mates rates; you're a fair bit off.
To cut the hole in the wall, and build the 'cabinet' with a basic nail on trim. Then to re-paint the new 'hole' came to about $2k. And that was only for a fridge worth of space (literally; it was a new fridge nook).
I'd guestimate about 3-4k? Be careful of anything that sounds too cheap. anyone who cuts through noggins and bracing saying 'thats fine, you can cut that one' had better have the architects plans to prove it.
