Probably a bit of a niche product but Mononoke is amazing. Might be jumping off the deep end if you've never watched anime before though I guess, since it's pretty 'Japanese'.

  just what i was thinking.. this particular series "Mononoke" seems to be a spin-off of something called Ayakashi: Japanese Classic Horror

As an anime lover, this series is easily one of my favourites. It was the only great part of its origin series, Ayakashi. Its colorful, fast moving, creepy, dark and adult. For the most part, the twists and turns are hard to predict.
