Hi, I saw this special it does seem very cheap for a HD unit.
I really can't comment on the hardware/software combination as it's not specified but usually the Tevion brand is OK. What is questionable is the on-going firmware support offered. The Hailo is into its 4th generation of firmware, this may be very important with the changes coming up with Freeview.
It's definitely a great price! As far as the Hailo getting cheaper in the near future? No chance, in-fact its quite the opposite.
With most Aldi specials there is usually limited stock in each outlet so I would suggest you get in asap on the sale date if your interested as I'm sure stock will be limited.

Currently I have a Full HD Sony Bravia X series TV, and it has a very good tuner ;-).
But maybe, I will buy a set top box for the older HD capable LCD tv.

Yeah I agree that this is a fairly good bargain. I'd also like to state I've purchased from them before and had the item arrive the next day (I live locally). Overall positive experience though I paid 9 bucks for the cable, not $5 but I'm still very happy :)
Great price for a good quality cable. I purchased 3 of the 1m HDMI cables last year (although paid a bit more) and have been very happy with the quality. Also fast postage to Melbourne.
One thing to be careful of is that the shipping is $4.95 per cable. So an order of 6 cables is $29.70 shipping.
It's still not a horrible deal but padding the cost of shipping to offset the low cost of the item is pretty iffy practice.
Interesting, but I paid only 1 shipping fee. So mine was not such a bad deal.

Updates on the refund issue:
Rang CrazyStu, and they handled the issue reasonably well. They provide refund thru the same bank provider transfer, and will removed comment once I have received refund from them.
A bargain if you ask me ;-)
