Monoprice 8320 Earphones $10.99 US Shipped

380

The famous Monoprice 8320. Have always wanted to try these out but shipping has always made it impossible to justify ($20+ from Monoprice).
Widely regarded as the best sounding earphone under $20, and some say $50. I had to jump on these.
As you don't get charged until the end of the group buy, the final price will depend on the exchange rate at the time (next Tues).

Can't even see the product without signing up. That means a can't be bothered for me. I think it's a good thing though…because I still need to go through the dozens of OZB earphones sitting new in box on my table.

    • Buying things you have no use for - now that's saving money!

Very nice find for those outside of the US. I have been curious about the fuss about these.

They'll both be dudes as they have male plugs. :P

    • I know a guy who did the same thing in Thailand

I have listened and compared these with my Meelectronic M11+ in ears, a pair of Vsonic GR02 Bass Edition and a pair of JVCs that were around $20. The Monoprices don't sound as good as the others. I didn't really like them all that much and I found that for the price they were pretty good but if you just spent a bit more you could get far better sound/value for money. The shells and build quality are a bit wanting and the sound was a bit unrefined and less controlled compared to the others. Would recommend going with the recent Meelectronic deal.

Where did you find the GR02s for $20? I paid closer to $40 for mine. Would buy another pair at that price.

      • Maybe I phrased that poorly, the JVCs were $20. The GR02s were $35 from Amazon.

    • Thanks for notifying me before I buy one, or else would have been unsatisfied with it. But yeah my M11+ cost 3 times more

      • When Meelectronics have them on special you can get them pretty cheap

These have to be the most balanced iem's under $100, and I'm not exaggerating. I have a pair of the 9927 (same iem only it has a black plastic housing). Bought a pair for roughly $25 from ebay, it came with a set of comply foam eartips.

The bass on these will be somewhat anemic since they're open iems. You can tape up the port on the back to get bass head levels of bass. Poke a hole on the tape and the bass is just right. Soundstage is pretty decent, there's some imbalance in some frequencies so some instruments may not sound natural. Focus is still in your head and not projected (not going to get LCD 2 type of soundstage for $11). Vocals are nice on these, they are projected and not recessed, they are clear but you may find them abit thin if you're used to the sennheiser signature.

Cable tangles REALLY easy and picks up alot of noise. Fitting maybe an issue for those with small ears. Treble can be harsh at higher listening levels around 8-10khz.

Compared to the sony XBA4 - these have less warm vocals, treble doesn't extend as much or is as emphasised as the xba4 but not alot of missing information.

If you've been buying cheap earphones recently, don't pass up on these. They're THAT good.

damn you op! another set of headphones, i swore i'd never buy another pair let alone 2. i nearly pulled the trigger on 100 sets for $700.

  • Pay that extra ~$10 and get these instead

    • I think these for $11 are alright as a disposable pair i.e. just toss them in your bag/pocket for anything. Of course, once you pay $10 more for better quality, you just keep going up and up in the audio world…

Having said that - the ones you listed are pretty damn good.

Sony MDREX220LPB, only $15, free delivery to Sydney metro area, may be other area too

      • Appears to be free shipping to all areas with the ~10 random postcodes I tried.

EDIT: Also just pointing out - considering the exchange rate and the cheaper deal jayzee pointed out, these are only ~$3 more expensive, so it's a lot less than being double the price. I guess then it's just about preference.

  • Ordered 2, thanks OP.

I just ordered one. Are they better than the ones that came with the iPhone 5? :)

  • I have got my dream IEM already but clicked on the link and got lured in on the deal on the Bravo V2 Headphone Amp. Anyone used one of these before? It seemed to have mostly positive reviews and was a good price compared to eBay.

  • Mine came today, seem pretty good for ~$10

  • Just got mine, was going to complain, then I saw the price. Never mind……
