Bankwest Breeze Platinum balance transfer questions

I have a couple of fairly basic questions, but can't for the life of me find the answers on their site, so if anyone can provide the appropriate link (or the answers,) it would be greatly appreciated.

1.) For the O% balance transfer offer, does the balance transfer specifically have to be applied for when making the application for the card, or can it be requested once the card arrives, or thereabouts?

2.) Once the introductory period has expired does the interest rate on balance transfers revert to the cash advance rate or the purchase rate?

This is info that I'd have thought should be fairly visible, but I'm having no luck tracking it down.

  • I'd give them a call. Their call centre is very useful in my experiences.

    Introductory Offers
Introductory rate on balance transfers and purchases is available to new credit card customers only. Introductory rate of 0% p.a. on balance transfers for 10 months applies from the date the card is opened regardless of when any balance transfer or purchase is processed by us. Rates are subject to change and exclude cash advances (rate of 21.99% p.a. applies). After the introductory period, the standard rate will apply to balance transfers.

  • Remember that unless there is a promo for interest-free purchases you will still be charged interest on your purchases even if you pay these off within the 55 day statement period. There are no interest-free days on purchases as you technically have not cleared your account (ie. the balance transfer amount is still owing)

    • Not planning on using it for purchases, other than for car hire when we go away, for the excess insurance.
