I wanna price match Pokemon X & Y using Target's preorder price of $49 at EB Games (I already put down the $10 deposits). However, Target's preorder price promotion has since disappeared. Would it still be possible to price match on the day the games come out, or will I be forced to price match retailers where the price has not disappeared (ie. I'll have to pay more)?
Price matching at EB Games
Comments
Personally I've found price matching with EB Games to be a bit hit and miss from store to store.
I've gone into stores that told me they would price match 3DS XL bundles from other stores but when I tried to purchase the new X & Y 3DS from my local store they told me they weren't allowed to price match bundle deals.
They wouldn't even match the price, regardless of the fact that I would have been better off buying it from the other store (i.e. got more bang for my buck).I've had similar experiences regarding games and preorder prices, but I guess it doesn't hurt to ask.
Best of luck and let us know how you go :)
I have been told by EB (Darling Harbour, Sydney) that they dont price match because they dont have any direct competitors (ie in the same centre). They seem to have a policies that depend on the store/manager
My understanding is that price matching at EB Games is at the discretion of the manager. Our local EB Games has happily price matched for me before. They said as long as I produce the relevant advertising from another store they would price match for me. I have taken in some BigW advertising before into them (which is about 15 minutes drive away) and they were happy to price match. They do not price match online prices. I have also paid a pre-order deposit for one of the Pokemon games from Target too (just happened to be there at the time or would have taken ad to EB again). I think you would be hard pressed to find cheaper elsewhere at the moment so I don't really understand why you just don't wish to wait until 12th October to collect them.
First off, ask them if you can price match, but they may say no if the offer is no longer running. If they say no, you can either cancel your pre-order and get your deposit back or just price match someone else. I know Big W and JB are both at $54, so it's only an extra $5.
