I've pretty much exhausted all my resources looking for a new TV.
I'm after the following;
50/55/60 LED LCD
100hz Refresh
Price wise the best I can really see is
Hisense HL55K160PZL 55"(139cm) FHD LED LCD 100Hz TV - $1049
Hisense HL50K360PZL3D 50"(126cm) FHD LED LCD 100Hz 3D TV - $989
No other brans seem to come close :S
Oh.. and I won't use Kogan. Can not stand dealing with them.

on the weekend i bought a panasonic 50 inch led lcd 3d tv for $1250 from jb hifi
i know it's a bit out of your price range but it's been a great tv so far
we ended up bundling with 5 year warranty for $1389, just to give you an idea if you wanted some idea of the bargaining possibilities
the tv was originally ticketed at $1800
To obe353; Groupon Australia has got a 55'' Kogan 3D LED TV with full HD for $729 that deal ends in a couple of days;also OO.com.au have a 50'' for less than $1000 i hope that i have been of some help for you in your travels

Appears to be LCD, not LED).
Do you really need LED/LCD? I was in the same position and went with a plasma instead and it's been fantastic.
If not there is a Samsung at DSE for $848 and it is 50hz but has trumotion? 120hz.
