Been looking for a data only sim for UK travel. Figure I can call and text on whatsapp and viber for less cost than calls. Anyone had good experience with a particular carrier?
Also looking for travel visa. Aus post do a load and go one, looks like only charge is if you withdrawal cash at at atm o/s. Any ideas?

Make sure you use the right provider (eg Three) some of them block VoIP. Also be careful of tethering, again it's often blocked. GiffGaff allow voip, but not tethering, on their unlimited packs.
Note, international calls to Australia on GiffGaff are 2p pm to a landline, so you might find you don't need voip.
Thanks for that. Good advice re tethering. Was hoping to tether tablet to iphone
Do you mean a travel cash card and not a travel visa? Most cash cards are pretty average with eschange rates. If you are with a certain bank, it might be worth checking if they have a 'sister bank' in the uk. I'm with Westpac\Bank of Melbourne and they have a sister bank with Barclays in the UK and Bank of America in the states (amongst other ones). They don't usually charge fees which is good.
Also, make sure you to get some cash for when you first get there, always nice to have some small denominationsHi- I think I mean travel visa? Aus post do a travel visa- you load it up with sterling via internet transfer b4 you go and can use like a visa debit card while o/s. Free to get, free to load, charge to cash advance. Just wonder if there's a better deal. I'm sure exchange rate will be poor like you said! And yes will take some pounds in cash.
Why not just get a Citibank Debit card and find a Citibank ATM in UK there should be a couple fee free and should be better rates than Auspost.
Cheers will look into it. Did you use it in uk?
Nah I plan to when I go in Feb next year, I used it in South Korea and found plenty of Citibank ATMs and the rates were close to xe.com and Fee Free.

http://citibank.com.au/plus3/thats t mobile top up. and will they send free sim to Aus?
i could prob pick one up in heathrow but would rather have it sorted b4 we go
if you need one before arriving there then consider http://www.travelgear.com.au/o2-pay-go-uk-sim-card/

My wife and I use 3 UK PAYG (Pay As You Go; what we call pre-paid) for our UK trips. Their £15 add-on gives you all-you-can-eat data for 30 days.
As for withdrawing money overseas, watch out for the various fees associated with most of them. Most have load fees, some have monthly fees, some have inactivity fees, etc, etc, and lousy exchange rates.
