Myki Question

I am going to Melbourne tomorrow, and using public transport and I was wondering if you submit a refund for the credit with a form like this http://ptv.vic.gov.au/assets/PDFs/Refunds-and-replacements/m… would you get the card costs back if you give the card back to them aswell??

Cheers, FOOD

Nope. That $6 (or $3 for concession) will never come back. It's a rip off.

    • I know mate, absolute rip-off. Thanks anyway

      $24.50 a day for a family of 5 travel + the cards $21

I could do many other things with that kind of money

For a family … take the taxi.

Welcome to Victoria. I go on VLine occassionally and the change to Myki meant my fare went from about $8 to $14.

        • You can still buy single/return (one day) paper tickets for vline and they still include free met travel. Vline is being vague about when this last type of paper ticket will be phased out.

  • Also careful how you put money onto the card. You need at least 1c balance to travel, even if you've already paid for your fare the whole day. You can't tap on with a 0 balance as I discovered :(

But none of this matters if you're intending on applying for refunds for the balances of all the cards.

  • Get the myki Visitor Pack.

    The myki Visitor Pack includes:

    • a full fare, concession, child or seniors myki card, pre-loaded with enough value (myki money) for one day’s travel in Zone 1, which includes the entire tram network
    • discount offers at 15 attractions including Melbourne Aquarium, the National Sports Museum, Eureka Skydeck and Puffing Billy, saving visitors more than $130
    • a protective myki wallet designed by renowned Melbourne cartoonist Mark Knight
    • a public transport map and information on how to use myki.
    • Or experience it the way the locals do and don't pay.

    • Yes thanks but I am staying at Coburg caravan park, so not in city
