I received this deal via email from PureVPN. They are offering the following discounts:

1 Month plan US $9.95, normally US $11.95
Quarterly plan US $24.95, normally US $35.85
Six Months plan US $44.95, normally US $72.10
12 Months plan US $49.95, normally US $143.40

The plans have the following features:
*Free VPN software for Windows, Mac, Android, iPhone & iPad
*Access 300+ VPN servers with22000+ IPs in 25 countries
*Unlimited Server Switching and Data Usage at no extra cost!
*OpenVPN, PPTP, L2TP/IPSec, SSTP, IKEv2 protocols
*2-Multi logins with one single account

I personally have found PureVPN to deliver good speeds (better than free VPNs I have tried) and thought that this was a pretty decent deal.

  • Yay, first VPN provider I've seen with a server in Australia!

    • Hide My Ass! have 4 servers in Australia and one in NZ.

  • +1

Ironically the network I'm on shows 'Access Denied- Proxy Avoidance', so I need to use my VPN to view the page.

  • I'm with PureVPN already. I would be tempted to take up this offer but I won't because:

1 I bought a discount 12 month subscription from them when I was only a little way through a 6 month month subscription. Not a problem, right? They simply extend the expiry date of your existing subscription by 12 months. WRONG! They immediately cancelled the existing 6 month subscription, with 4 months remaining on it, and started me on the 12 month subscription. Can you see the problem? They couldn't.

It took me hours of headaches to get them to fix it.

2 I suspect these super discounted prices are in fact the regular price- permanently discounted. If I have to pay any more than US$50 for a 12 month subscription when my current subscription expires I won't renew.

  • Does anyone use this VPN currently and can comment on the service? I'm looking for a VPN specifically for netflix viewing.

    • +1

Strictly for Netflix, I find that the Hola Unblocker extension for Chrome (and Firefox?) works much faster than any VPN I've used. You can use it to bypass other location restrictions to view things like BBC, NBC, etc.

      It's free as well!

  • For Netflix you need a US server. Not sure where their servers are in the US but it might not matter. I use strongvpn and occasionally have to switch servers to maintain decent speeds. Not sure what the peering these guys have or what the load on their servers is like.

Can you get a trial account?

  • They have a $2.50 trial account, if speeds are important I'd suggest trying it first. I tested their speeds a couple of months ago and found them poor in comparison to Astrill. This was before they offered a trial option, and I had a very difficult time getting a refund, despite their clearly defined refund policy. They insisted I "prove their server speeds are lying" and were quite rude, suggesting I was trying to rip them off…It was surreal. I had to threaten a chargeback before they agreed to refund. Astrill is $20 more expensive but worth it for consistently fast server speeds.

  • Hi,
I checked out Astrill reviews here…
    https://www.bestvpn.com/blog/6240/astrill-vpn-review/
    and some weren't too flattering

  • Ps….That's user reviews btw….and same for pure VPN

  • Personally, if its just for streaming US based content, I'd go with Unblock Us or Hotspot Shield.
HSS has a promo coming up soon on BitsduJour where you'll get 12 months VPN for the price of three months ($15), so I'm hanging out for that, as you can also have up to 5 devices using the same account.

  • How's this compare to PrivateInternetAccess?

They're US $39.95/year and don't log your activities. It's also recommended more often than PureVPN.

    • PIA is excellent, have been using them for 6 months now, refer previous deal comments (OzBargain) for more info

  • Received an email from PureVPN advising that is to be shut down due to legal issues. More importantly, they state that they will not be issuing refunds.

It goes without saying - do not sign up. Anyone who has already subscribed and paid with PayPal may have done their money if the 45 day refund period has already elapsed.
