Hi Colin1 - we purchased a Scoupon voucher for a recent trip to Hawaii (back 4 weeks). We were more than satisifed with the travel agent and the trip. We paid for additional nights in both Honolulu and Maui - everything was ready when we got there. This was not a 5 star trip - it was definitely on the lower end of the scale but we got what we paid for. For this trip, including all flights (including interisland) and hotels, there was a travel agent who was extremely helpful.
Wow , good to hear two out of two responses being positive and realistic (leclark- credit to you). I've been tempted by those deals.
I recently considered buying a deal for a 2 or 3 night stay (for either a couple or 2 adults and 2 kids), from the deals advertised on Channel 9's getaway (Luxury escapes).
This was at a Hotel In Lorne, saw the deal, and I quickly emailed the hotel to query if the dates I wanted were available (25th sept). I got a very short response stating 'all booked out for those dates'. However I had just checked on their website for availability, and there was availability, I emailed them back stating… I just checked your site and I see availability, are you saying that the rooms assigned to this deal are all sold out.
I got no response! Lucky I read the fine print, and did not buy, because the refund guarantee only applied to bookings for 2 people not when trying to book as a family!?.
I purchased one for a villa in Bali for 7 nights. Worst experience ever, we were put into rooms that did not look like the advertised rooms, had to change rooms twice in three days due to things not working in the room. On the third night, we decided to leave as the aircon was leaking (we had asked to get it fixed but they just put towels on the floor, the water was leaking onto a wall outlet!!) and I almost slipped over due to the leaking. The phone in the room wasn't working (which they said they'd fix) so we had to walk to reception which at 4 in the morning to tell them we wanted to check out. Long story short.. we had to compromise with the general manager for about 6 hours back and fourth for a refund. The general manager agreed but said he will email scoopon and they will do the refund.
After getting in contact with scoopon, we got our refund but even though they are well aware of the OH&S issue within this property, they are still selling vouchers for this villa every couple of months(I went in April).
I don't think scoopon care whether the property is what they say it is - just aslong as scoopon gets a cut then they're happy.
I hope you have a better experience!
Hi Colin1,
We've used scoopon travel for a 3 night stay in Phuket and all went smoothly. Once purchased we contacted the hotel straight away and redeemed the voucher. Saved nearly 1K rather than going through the hotel or booking agent websites.
The 14 day money back guarantee is a nice safety net in case dates weren't available but we have never had to use it.
