iPhone 3GS not supported by Optus / Telstra?

I saw this on EBay and was wondering why these unlocked phones do not work on Optus / Telstra.

I'm on TPG but I suppose because they ride on Optus, it won't work for me either?

I don't think that's right, unless they are stolen.

They support all the GSM and HSPDA bands so there's no reason it shouldn't, and the seller claims it to be unlocked too. THe only thing I can think of is that it doesn't support 4G, so the seller could be confused.
