I can vouch for the high quality of High Sierra - My Backpack has been holding up great for well over 5 years now. Comes with a lifetime warranty on it too if irc

    • +1

same, but im only up to 4.5 years atm

      • Likewise. 4.5 years on mine. Not even a single stitch has come undone.

  • +1

Might be a good deal for those ob who missed the Everki deal a few weeks ago.

I have a headache from reading the combinations. Lie down time.

  • +1

Looks like they've improved the zippers from the old designs (my old Sierra had crap zippers).

Website is the real let-down though, no consistency with backpacks details (couldn't find actually size info for about half the bags).

Not buying a bag based on how big it looks on the internet.

  • Get the following error on High Sierra Hs Mini B'Pack + High Sierra Elevate Backpack combo:

Sorry, an error has occurred while trying to retrieve the inventory status of this product.

    • Same problem here :/

    • +1

High Sierra Elevate Backpack out of stock

Try bagworld.com.au. Free delivery and I believe they beat the price too. Highly recommend. Have bought from them couple of times.

  • How would people say these compare to the Everki bag that was posted recently?

    • Indeed, I want to know this too.

      • +3

Everki bags were better, laptop/ipad compartments, padding, bigger/cheaper

        • Thanks for the insight on this. I see a lot of High Sierra bags being used by people who commute on the train. Don't see many Everki ones but I guess High Sierra is more easily found.

I'm quite enjoying my Everki flight. So many compartments… I need to buy more stuff to fill them with - lol

Ordered 2 back packs with Jelly Beans for free shipping. Thanks OP!

Correct me if I wrong although the display pic for the Mini Backpack is kind of misleading:

    It should be:

    http://www.highsierra.com.au/index.php/mini-backapck.html/

and not the pic of the more expensive (and better looking) Vex backpack:

    http://www.highsierra.com.au/index.php/backpacks/laptop-back…

    • Good pick!

    • yeah, but the description looks to be the vex.. i'm picking it up and paid via paypal so i'll just get a refund if item does not match description

  • This is great. My current High Sierra bag has a rip up the top of it. No idea how it got there but it's easily 5 years old - otherwise going fine.

  • this item is OUT OF STOCK
High Sierra Hs Mini Laptop B'Pack

    • +1

Out of stock online but you still can pick up from local store I think

    Bought 2 :) Thanks OP!!

  • Not going to buy one because my old High Sierra is still going strong. Can recommend.

    • Agreed, I too have my old High Sierra bag from >5years ago, they are very sturdy. But still bought 2 new ones.
I just Hope they send the Vex backpack DJ's has as the pic and not the MiniB'Pack.

  • Thanks OP!

It's about time to get a new backpack.
I accidentally dropped my old backpack (with laptop, iPad and Samsung Galaxy Note 8.0 in it) into the toilet while I was in airport.

Bought 2 High Sierra Backpacks-red + Cuisena Biscuit Cutter Straight Sided Set of 3 for $41.08
Biscuit cutter for her and backpacks for me, everyone is happy!

    • You get back packs and biscuits…It's Win Win!

    • +2

Must have been a bloody big toilet

      • Or possibly a squatting toilet. I hate using those… but when you gotta go…

at least their swimmers are working.

Bought the expandable + raparound for $63. Thought the $29 ones would be a bit small for my needs.

    • Thanks, best combo for a carry-on bag option ;)

      • You're talking about flights right?

  • +4

For anyone looking for the out of stock bags, bagworld have the same prices (for the few I checked) + free delivery :)

    http://www.bagworld.com.au/shop/search/query/high+sierra/ite…

    • doesn't look like same price though….don't see anything for $25

      • Oops forgot to check that one but the elevate, red And raparound were the same price and said free delivery

        • +2

Yup probs going to get an Elevate.

Use discount code SPRING for an extra 8% off

        • good one, probably worth a post in itself!

  • Great deal on great quality packs. My 5 year old one which has been my work bag all that time has the zip tags showing copper through the chrome as their only real sign of wear. Even the internal zips and compartments are all going strong.
I don't need another one but might get one just 'because'.

  • I went to collect High Sierra Hs Mini B'Pack.
    I found that it is only of size 34cm x 28cm x 13cm.
It won't fit 17" laptop as claimed in the product description.

    What can I do?
    Complain to DJ customer support?
    Raise an Paypal escalation?
    Report to Fair trading?
    Report to ACCC?
    Report to police?

    • +1

Definitely not the same as the DJ's specs:

      Dimensions: 30.5 x 39 x 48 cm

Does it look the same as the product in the picture just so people have an idea before putting in an order?

I'd probably raise this with DJ's first and go from there. Going to Fair Trading, ACCC, or the police is somewhat extreme at this point.

      • +1

DJ client support transferred me to store.
Store told me that the picture for the mini B'pack is wrong.
The picture online is for a bag that costs $51 ($89 originally)
They are going to refund me.

        • Thanks for confirming.

It was posted earlier in this thread that the pic is wrong. Sorry to see that they're not honouring the mistake and are refunding instead. Considering this is more than just a pricing error and that the pic and advertised dimensions are wrong, I reckon they ought to honour it but to chase them down wouldn't be worth it.

          The Everki deal remains unbeaten.

        • +1

I asked to speak to their manager.
The manager finally agreed to honour it.
He gave me two of the following
          http://www.highsierra.com.au/index.php/backpacks/laptop-back…

He also said that he will ask to modify the online ad for the mini B'Pack.

          Well done, DJ!!

        • Good work mate! In true ozbargain style you negotiated your way to a deal :-)

        • I am in same situation. Just carried bag away from the store as I was out of time. Would definitely try to sort this thing in evening, even if I have to pay a little extra (the difference) for a good bag. This little bag is too little to handle.

        • Hi TG,

Which store you picked it from?

I'm going to pick mine in evening So I make sure I get one. Hope they don't argue much as the description and everything matches with the image. Only the title is wrong.

          Thanks

        • Well I can share my experience with DJ Bourke St Mall, Melbourne. The lady has been exceptionally well dealing with the concerns. DJ is upto their commitment and standards.

So I hope they maintain same commitment all across. I was actually willing to pay the difference to get the pictured bag instead of the small Hs bag but the customer executive; the lovely lady said me to be compensated for the mistake (although just a picture here and there) DJ site has had observed. Very much satisfied with overall experience.

  • Surprised people can keep bags for 5+ years in ok condition, Mine are completely unusable after 1 year. My new years resolution is always to buy a brand new one.

    • +1

We make the bargain last longer ;-)

But I guess it depends on what you do with your bag. I don't treat mine in a rough manner in my day to day usage. I have a 22L Kathmandu bag that's still in excellent condition after 3yrs.

    • +1

"My new years resolution is always to buy a brand new one."

After you've fulfilled that resolution, perhaps add "Be more gentle with backpacks".

I've had my kathmandu bag for 10+ years.

      • If I did that I wouldn't have a resolution for 2015 :P

  • Damn having seen the everki deal now I wish I got that lol

  • Hey guys ordered from bagworld at around 10 today (thanks swctan) and they have already sent my bags! So things are looking good so far if anyone is wishing to order from them. :)

  • Ordered the HS Mini Backpack online and the lady at my local store (Booragoon) gave me a Vex with no questions asked. The description and picture on the website hasn't been corrected so it may be worth trying again.

  • I collected my click & collect order yesterday. The guy at the customer service noticed that there was an issue with the ordering and asked me to check with the luggage department. Went to the luggage department and as soon as they saw the mini bag in my hand she straight away acknowledged the mistake and replaced the mini with the vex bag. So that was pretty good service from DJ!

  • Placed my order friday 27th afternoon Click & collect, planning to collect first thing sunday morning. Got a call saturday afternoon at 4:30 pm to say they had no stock, they had filled too many orders already & I would have to come in to the store to get a refund cause i had paid with paypal. She would not get any stock from another store, but would leave a list of stors that had stock when i came in to collect my refund!
Not good service from DJ's , i was surprised, expected more from them…..

  • They are still showing the wrong phot but this time selling the cheaper bag for more $$

    http://shop.davidjones.com.au/djs/en/davidjones/sale/home-10…

    • I didn't receive a call and went for collection, the Customer Service counter refused to admit it's wrong photo/product but keep telling me that they sold out instead and just wanted to refund me which takes 45min to do so.

but the bag department staff(or manager) let me pick over few different High Sierra bags(similar or cheaper pricing bags around $59+/-) which I didn't want(wanted the Vex), so in the end just refund and disappointment, still appreciate the efforts from the bag department, 100 times better than the Lenovo sale!!!

base on experience, will shop again with David Jones! :-)

  • Sale is on again but …. photo remains messed up with the new price..they are not learning from their mistakes !!
