blah blah blah, subscription == not a deal :P

3 seconds before Beaker comments! I stand with him, this should be forum post, contents of a product you buy is not a deal.

  • Dragon's Dogma is the one I've been waiting for this month

    • Giana Sisters for me, the others are just icing on the cake :D

  • +3

Not bad! FC3 is a fun game!

    Forum post, not a deal

  • -1

not a bargain and in itself ps plus is a bargain with the games you get for free.
    downloading now :)

  • +1

Already downloaded all the games last night :)

Whats the cheapest way to get a PS plus sub?

  • +4

I have PSN Plus and this is not a deal, its like saying the movies are free on Netflix. This is part of a subscription service.

  • +2

Actually, 60 FREE games for $70 is an amazing deal to be honest, which is why I signed up PSN+.

    • -4

yep its a bloody good deal.
i bet the idiots negging the deal dont even have playstations!

funny how all the troglodytes come out of their caves for psn deals

      • +9

Yes, many of us that neg are PS+ members. I have an Aus and US PS+ membership.
I post updates over on the WhirlpoolPS+ thread.

I have created a widely accessed spreadsheet listing all of the free games available in both the Aus (Eu) and US PS+ programs.
        https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AmRRDLosxQLIdGJ…

PS+ is an awesome service, but free games are a normal part of the service.
So it is only a deal if there is some special offer for the PS+ program itself.

      • +1

        I am also a PS+ subscriber.

  • +2

Agree with others. This has come up before and while the subscription service itself is great value, this particular game is merely part of that service and not a deal.

    • Then why are free games on Xbox live allowed?

      • +1

Because you don't need gold and even if you do on some of them you get to keep them after gold has expired where as with PlayStation plus when your membership.runs out you don't get to keep the game

        • You have to be a Gold subscriber. Whether it's a deal or not is a bit of a grey area. IMHO, I would say that because it requires a subscription (like PS+) it is not a deal, regardless of whether you get to keep the content at the end of the subscription.

The main difference is that the Games with Gold program will end at the end of 2013.

We want to thank our existing Xbox Live Gold members and any new Gold members who may join during the rest of this year by providing two free game downloads a month from July through December 2013. In celebration of e3, we will also provide a bonus free game to download between June 10 and June 30, 2013!

          Source: http://support.xbox.com/en-US/xbox-live/games/games-with-gol…

Because it is a time limited promotion, I believe it is ok to post the Games with Gold deals when they occur.

        • bah nitpicking. as if time limited makes a difference.
          post em all.
          many viewers find em useful.

        • -3

I bet you don't even have a PlayStation. So why feel the need to waste your time just to neg this deal?

  • As per everyone, not a deal.

  • +1

    excellent post keep em coming.
    yes it is worth posting.
most wont notice it hidden away on the forums.

much more useful than a lot of the posts that save you $1 off a burger etc etc.

sure it wont be of use to a lot of people but guess what most bargains posted arent.

you dont see the whingers and whiners coming out when the coke bottletop deals appear do you?
guess what not everybody drinks coke let alone keeps the caps….should that be in forums instead too?

    • The difference is if you claim a yoyo from coke rewards you keep it if you stop collecting coke rewards.

The problem most people have is not that they are only valid for PSN subscribers, it is that these free games are only valid as long as you keep subscribing to PSN, as soon as you stop subscribing you will not be able to access these games, the xbox live games for gold games are yours to keep after your gold subscription runs out

      • they are only valid for PSN subscribers

That's the exact reason why it's not a bargain.

    • +1

Subscribe to the blog then you see it when it's announced
      http://blog.eu.playstation.com/2013/09/17/playstation-plus-i…

Be on any of Sony's Playstation email lists and you will get an email about it about twice per month.

  • Every damn time. Do we have to do this every month?
Free games are a normal part of PS+, so never a deal.
A discount or extended period for PS+ subscription would constitute a deal.

The $10 credit for every $50 spent currently in the US store is a deal, and a good one at that.
    http://blog.us.playstation.com/2013/09/24/sale-get-10-for-ev…

This is not a deal, it is only worthy of a forum post.
And even then you should post all five games that are free.

    Entering PS Plus:
    25th September: Far Cry 3
25th September: Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams
25th September: Dragons Dogma: Dark Arisen
25th September: Street Fighter X Tekken (PS Vita)
25th September: Touch My Katamari (PS Vita)

  • Its a bit of an R rated game. I wonder if there's anything stopping anyone under age from downloading it.

    • Does PlayStation Plus have an age limit?
You must be 18 years old to purchase a PlayStation Plus subscription.

      Source

Combined with Parental Controls to restrict access on multi account consoles, but ultimately it's up to the parents to monitor & police what their kids are playing.

I don't see why people get so uptight about PSN+? People on here can have a funny idea on what constitutes a "bargain" sometimes. My favourite is "It's an excellent value subscription service but not a bargain". Um, isn't a bargain, by definition, "excellent value"?

The whole anti-subscription thing is silly. Other subscription services are posted here and nobody bats an eyelid. PSN+ seems to be the only subscription service that cannot be a "bargain" on here.

People obviously chose whether or not to subscribe to PSN+ based on games selection. That's the whole point of PSN+. The quality of the games are what decides if PSN+ a value for money (bargain) service or not. Good games = good value, bad games = bad value. So up vote for good games, down vote for crap games. Let people vote on the quality of the subscription's content to decide whether it's a bargain or not. That's the way I see it.

    • +1

PS+ is a excellent value, but each game by itself is not a bargain. You are simply getting exactly what you paid for.

It's like a magazine subscription, should there be a post each month telling everyone what the contents of this months magazine is? No. But if there was a discount to the magazines subscription, then yes it would be a bargain.

      • +3

I always feel the need to correct people when they say they are getting a 'free' game from ps+… no you arent you paid for it!

      • +1

I see where you're coming from but let's be real, PS+ can only be excellent value based on the games included. Nobody is subbing to PS+ for the other features. You get different games each month so they are a variable value. Before it got revamped a couple of years ago, PS+ was not very good value because the games weren't that good. If from next month onwards the games are terrible, then PS+ is not a bargain anymore. A discount means little if the subscription itself is crap.

Most of the negs are from people already subbed to PS+ who are looking at it from the perspective of someone who is already subscribed to PSN+ and just "getting what they paid for". Someone who isn't subbed will judge whether or not it's a bargain based on the quality of the games provided.

And yeah, they should not be listed as "free games". They are paid for through the subscription. It should be "PS+ Games for September" or something along those lines.

        • +1

Nobody is subbing to PS+ for the other features.

100% wrong. I very rarely play the games we get "free".
My main point for PS+ has always been the auto update service. If you took the games away, I would still sub, because it is worth my time.
The time saved in not having to wait for patches to download etc is invaluable, games are a little bonus to me, no the foucs.

Yes I am in the minority, by a long way.

This "deal" is not about the value of PS+, it is about this one game. If it was about PS+ as a whole then the OP would have at least posted all 5 games rather than just one that will only appeal to a certain amount. The bigger the game yet a few years old means that it will have been played by more people and therefore less relevant or valuable to them.
When this was posted on Whirlpool, most commented that they had long finished the game and the other games were more appealing.

        • Nobody is subbing to PS+ for the other features.

          100% wrong

I second this, when I started subscribing it was for the cheap games, but now it gets a bit like my Steam collection, full of games (thanks HumbleBundles etc) of which 70% have never been played. In the end (just like Steam) I still buy other games that I actually want and often play them more than the free games that come in PS+.

For me the benefit of automatic updates is worth it alone.

        • I havent actually played and of the ps+ games for ps3 yet… the vita games on the other hand do get play time :P

  • thanks bought one for $0.00 .

just gave an upvote cos i am just going to sleep and by the time i wake up i'll have it downloaded and ready to play.

  • most of the people who neg here are psn subscribers i guess like me . The whole point is if its a deal you have to keep it after the end of subscription , once it runs out you dont own the game , so its not free and not a deal . PSN releases free games every month and if you are subscriber you get to keep it .

  • US PS+ for October

    Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (PS3)
    Shadow of the Colossus (PS3)
    Poker Night 2 (PS3)
    Hotline Miami (PS Vita/PS3, Cross-Buy)
    Sine Mora (PS Vita)
