Aldi introducing paypass + Aust Post self service billing machines - ING 5%

thought this was great.

was at Aldi @ Kippa Ring the other night and they now have paypass at the registers.

with ING card it is an extra 5% off.

not sure if all Aldi's are getting paywave or what.

Some one posted recently that Auspost offices are getting paywave self serve billing machines. 5% off bills. awesome.

loving the 5 % off.

I think I've saved about $150 since getting it 11 weeks ago. $150 is $150. better in my pocket.

While this is good for those with ING.

My local Aldi has a 2% surcharge on VISA or Mastercard.

(and my PayWave although it's linked to my regular saving account, it actually uses visa to pay for the item…)

So they make it quicker to checkout, but jab us with 2% surcharge. (So I'm back to inserting my chip card and choosing savings and pin entering…)

    • Are you sure it is 2%? My local Aldi charges 0.5% for credit purchases and yes, I have been using the ING card to pay for my purchases.

      • Oh, it could actually only be 0.5%. I thought I read 2% somewhere…

        • saw .5% sign today at the register.

maybe you were thinking that you would add your 2 (per)cents to the discussion?

  • How do I know if i'm still getting the 5% refunds on paywave. I signed up prob a year ago and apparently it only lasts 6 months right?

    • Shows up in your transaction report.

  • not sure if all Aldi's are getting paywave or what.

they've been rolling them out over the past few months

some stores want to remove them due to customers not realising the automatic surcharge then wanting a refund which takes time to give thereby slowing down the usually superfast checkout turnaround

  • Again as per usual W.A. does not have Aldi.First knew about this supermarket chain in England over 10 yrs. ago where friends told us how good it is. Then saw a news report apx. 1yr. later saying they were opening up around Australia - it would seem they cannot cross the Nullabor !

    • They haven't made it to SA yet either, although they have announced plans to open in Adelaide soon.

  • Lets hope one can get bills below $100.

  • Went to Aldi in Bundaberg the other day & used paywave.

  • it is 0.5% surcharge but on for credit, check or savings are fine. Is it possible to set pay wave to come out of your savings instead of credit account automatically?
