Doesn't have to be high performance in any way. The only ones I can find are hugely more expensive than 15 inchers like the ACER Aspire V5-573 15.6" in "deals" today.
Is there such a thing as a cheap 17 inch notebook?

Found a new one for $613 on eBay.

I stole a i3-2370, 4GB DDR3, 320GB HD 17.3" from Aldi for $299
Was that the regular price? How long ago was that?
Last one, E7222 model. Was about 4 months ago, sold it to family with 8GB DDR3 for $200
Thanks: I'll keep an eye out at Aldi.
If you are looking for a FHD resolution 17" (1920x1080 resolution) I would look into importing one from the US as these seem to be pretty overpriced here in OZ :-(
e.g. Toshiba 4th gen i7 quad core - US$730 !!Would need to use a ship forwarding company to use best buy though. eg. http://www.shipito.com/
Here is another option…
4th Gen i3 but with 1600x900 - US$587… Looks like it could be a bit of a fingerprint magnet though…
This is the cheapest I can find- $609 + $24.95 and that's for a refurbished one.
