Singapore for 2 Adults & 3 kids

Looking at staying in Singapore for 10 days early next year but can not find any hotels that will allow more than 4 people per room.
Seems silly to have an extra room for 1 extra person.
Does anybody know of any hotels etc that we can all stay together?

  • is price an issue?

    singapore isn't cheap for hotels.

I went to singapore in March as part of 2 Adults & 3 kids (i was one of the adults).

the youngest kid was 4 years so we skimped and went for a hotel called the park or garden hotel and got a room with 2 doubles (it was for 48 hours and photos looked nice). big mistake. crap hotel. tiniest room ever. no hot water. cost $100 a night. we left 20 minutes after checking in.

stayed at Fraser Place Robertson Walk - expensive but were upgraded to a 3 bedroom suite.

    would recommend.

    • altomic, we just came back from HK, family of four, can you share what you mean by expensive, and what inclusions did you get, buffet breakfast etc?

      • ~$400 a night.
        buffet breakfast (not extensive).
        suite had kitchen and laundry.
        a good quality hotel.

we were strapped for time in finding a hotel when we were there (i.e. other hotel was crap and it was nearly 5pm when we walked out of it) so may have been able to find something else with more time.

happy to have stayed there. don't mind that I spent that amount given the circumstances and the quality of it.

    It's tough. I took 2adults and 4kids last year.
We stayed at the Festive Hotel on Sentosa, a little way out of the center, but with good transport links, including a free monorail for guests. It also has good pools (and shares the Hard Rock hotel pool too).
Officially, I think the family rooms sleep 4, but the loft bed was good for two small kids, and the fold out would sleep one adult, or two kids that get on better than mine.
We got it at 50% off rack via wotif.
I read the trip advisor reviews which suggested I wasn't the first to cram in some extra bodies, and we asked for a couple of extra towels.
I was a bit chicken when we checked in so I got the others to wait in the cafe while I did the paperwork just in case the staff freaked out, but nobody said anything.
Otherwise, pickings were very, very sparse and I spent a lot of time on this. Good luck.

    • We stayed 4 nights at the festive and even though we only had 2 kids you could definately fit in more ( it is that busy I don't think they would know). Even consider marina bay sands, club room - again not officially- you could fit 3 kids easily. This is my review on triadvisor http://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowTopic-g294262-i1747-k5763228-… .

I am a fan of airbnb. I am actually in an airbnb room in Hong Kong sitting out a typhoon now - but couldn't find anything suitable when i went.

      • maximum, we just came back from HK, family of four, can you share what you paid at marina sands, and what inclusions did you get, buffet breakfast etc, we are planning on doing this next year (kids will be 6 and 10), and want to get a bearing on cost. We paid on average $325.00 in HK per night, not including breakfast Disneyland Hotel, Harbour Grand Kowloon and Metropark Causeway bay (all with swimming pools, abit of a must for us to cool down at days end).

In HK we stayed at Panda hotel in a family suite. just over $200 a night. 2 bedrooms (1 king + 2 singles - a bathroom for each) and loungeroom (had a big couch which would fit another child). huge tv in each 3 rooms. nespresso machine and mini bar. had been renovated/revamped within last year or so. no buffet breakfast. room was made up and restocked everyday - very clean and neat. downstairs was a 3 storey shopping centre (supermarket, department store, retaurants, shops -including zopo store). I just went down to the supermarket each morning and stocked up for breakfast and snacks+drinks for the day. place had a pool - but it was only 21 degrees when we were there. close to MTR so everything was convenient -its on the redline(?) so it went everywhere you needed to go. bus stop to airport close by and an inexpensive way to get to the airport (though taxis are relatively cheap). would have no hesitation in staying there again.

Marina bay sands was $608 SGD (just over $517 a night) . The room was a club room, it was huge even with the two double rollaway beds and we all could have fit in the king bed.

We had a hard time getting info on children being allowed before we booked eg extra beds etc so in the end I winged it and just said to the check in girl I had been told I could have extra beds. They tried to talk me into a room on a lower floor with more space. Luckily I didn't go for this as the view and room were fantastic.

For that money we got afternoon tea for the adults cakes, sandwiches , little savouries - quiches etc. Soft drink, juices, teas coffees etc as well. We used this a lunch as we checked in at 11am as early as we could. Children were not allowed but they were at breakfast. Not sure what the policy is as I think they just make it up as they go along. If we pushed it may have been able to have them inside but after 4 days with no tv the kids were desparate to sit in the room with room service. They felt like kings sitting in their robes with the fancy room service table eating chips and pizza anyway so it was just part of the experience.

In the afternoon they have cocktails and canapes which we had for dinner ( again adults only). Drinks were spirits, cocktails, wine and champagne. The drinks were strong and the wine people at the next table were impressed by the choices (I only like cheap sweet wine so I had no idea). Service as you would expect was excellent and the food ( really fancy finger food and drinks just kept coming).

Breakfast was buffet but with drink and eggs service. All of us had this.

All in all even though it cost more than 5 days at the hostel and 2 and 1/2 days at sentosa I would do it again in a heartbeat and I think it was definately worth it.

        • Thanks for the detailed info maximum.
We had this also at the Metropark causeway bay for staying at the Executive parlour room, however we only took advantage of the afternoon tea (spirits, wine etc), on two nights, as we did not want to use my parents as baaby sitters (children not allowed), it was great.

I also looked at airbnb and there was a couple of options there.

  • There is as well http://au.travelmob.com/singapore-holiday-homes/ that's similar to airbnb, where you could rent out an entire apartment. Tiger airways recently promoted it.

You can try the Marina bay sands in Singapore. They have very big rooms. You can also use this simple guide > http://streetjury.com/2013/07/top-things-to-do-in-singapore/ , gives info on important numbers, places to visit, hotels, and so on.
