Modern Living Variable Temperature Kettle $16 @ Target

160

I was in the market for a kettle recently and this is extremely cheap for a variable temperature one. $16 (says it's down from $20 but I'm sure it was a lot more than this when I was looking).

Description:
Our 1.7 litre capacity Variable Temperature Kettle features electronic temperature control from 40 degrees C to 100 degrees C for different tea and coffee types.

I had one before, it's very noise when you are boiling water, and stopping working just after one year warranty expired.

    • i thought its a given that all ('normal) kettles are noisy ? 'What is this luxury silent kettles you speak of.

I had one for a couple months and the lid broke (though it was under heavy use), I'd get a plastic one or at least a better quality one. If you're a light user and just want it for its looks… go ahead and get it

  • Yeah the lid is a bit flimsy, and sometimes after boiling water, the lid won't open so you cant put water in it. I think its a protective measure, because after boiling water there's a lot of steam and it prevents you from burns. When the kettle cools down a bit, the lid opens easily.

    • what happens when you need to run more than 1 cycle at a time eg. supplying hot water for cooking? I'd be fuming if I have to wait till it cools down

I can understand how that would make your blood boil… eh? eh?

  • I have one of these. Paid $30 for it around 6 months ago, down from around $60.

Decent kettle, not sure how accurate the different temperatures are. Haven't had any problems with it so far. Only annoyance is that if you use the 'keep hot at current temp' function (clearly I cannot even begin to remember what this is called or how to describe it), it forgets it if you take the kettle off the base. Maybe I'm doing something wrong, though.

  • It is sold out now
