  • Check out Mr Suit - http://www.kobobooks.com/search/search.html?q=mr+suit - it's a crime caper and it's really funny. It's at half price - all the Untreed Reads books are on offer using this code. Nice spot OP.

  • So where is the cheapest place to buy a Kobo… Glo in particular. Harris technology is the best I've found at 144. Anyone know of any better

    • Don't bother price matching at officeworks in Victoria. out of stock at 3 locations that I went to. Apparently the only places that have stock are in regional areas. Eventually price matched at DJ.

  • Right so looks like all publishers in the US are now non agency this means that in the US store the 50% can be applied to all books. This is not the case in the Australia store :(
For example in Australia The Cuckoo's Calling By Robert Galbraith is $16.99 and not discountable but in the US it is $9.99 and you can add the coupon on reducing it to $4.99 a saving of $12 :o

Geo jumping on kobo is relatively simple, at the moment they do not IP check. So you just need to log out of your aussie account navigate to http://store.kobobooks.com/en-us/ create a new account specifying a US address. I don't attach a credit card to the account just pay by paypal. I don't even change the Aussie address in my paypal account it does't seem to bother kobo. If however you are GEO jumping then you should make sure to set your books free just in case your account is ever locked by the retailer.

    • Hi Melmac,

Sorry if a silly question, just wondering what you mean by 'set your books free' and how to go about doing this please, if you don't mind thanks

      • By setting your books free I mean removing their DRM so that you can back them up and move them about as you see fit, even format shift them if you wish.
Do you currently use Calibre to manage your ebook library?

        • Hi Melmac,

I dont use Calibre to manage library, we buy ebooks through kobo for my 12yo son to read on his kobo ereader, so just manage them using that. I will look into this Calibre, thank you.

    • This is the way to go. I like to support authors and actually buy stuff as opposed to rampant piracy. However I completely lose interest when some middleman along the way hijacks the cost and rapes you like the situation melmac77 is highlighting. I bet the author gets the same money from either transaction, it will be just some local distributor or someone else in the chain being greedy.
