I've been to one of these, they really use high pressure sales techniques, I was a student back then, and they asked me how much money I get from Aus-study and planned a way for me to pay for it through that! (I didn't)

Like the others have said, these things are high pressure sales scams designed to get you caught up emotionally… and then financially!!!
That is unless you want to waste a few hours having a drink, getting all done up, and then go out and take your own photos!!! ;)
I bought one of those vouchers last year.
The BAD:
- loooong waiting time, the earliest available date was 2-3 months from the day I called
- Their prices for "Packages" are way above what I expected, but probably close to industry standart (is that bad?)
The GOOD:
- the team took really good care of my better half and me - makeup, hair, different shots, etc.
- there were no HIGH pressure tactics, I was expecting it, but didn't happen - they showed us all good photos and let us choose 1 (the 1 included in the voucher)
- as a bonus, the guy offered to give us 1 more "digital print" (for the simple folk like me - a JPG file), instead of printing and mailing the first one (as per the voucher conditions) - we agreed and now have 2 awesome professional photos
I see it as a good experience, 2 pro shots for $29 and I met good professionals. I didn't buy the expensive packages, but who knows - one day I might need a professional photographer and give them a call.
it says you need to pay a $150 deposit and you only get a copy of 1 photo. i imagine all the other photos cost $$$$
Take my advice - Don't go near them, I have used their service via scoopon deal…
- No mention of $150 deposit which they take.
- Booking times are unavailable as soon as you tell them you have coupon. Mind you, next available booking is not until November
- Your funds are deducted immediately, but will take at least 5 business days for refund
- Your funds are with them until your booking day comes and just in case you forgot the booking date - then forget the deposit and the amount invested in the deal
- Photographers are okay - not great or may be they are exhausted taking many photos a day.
Above is the feedback from my personal experience, you may experience something even worst
Don't most of these family photography 'deals' turn out to be http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bait-and-switch scams where they pressure you in to buying various packages and use the guilt angle to get you to cough up many more $$$ than you expected?
