Hi all,
Not sure if people are aware of the free app hosting you can get at Red Hat Open Shift or not.
Their free plan is pretty generous and perfectly suitable for most personal sites - you can easily install WordPress, say, on it. There's a little bit of know-how needed to get it up and running but that's mainly good fun if you're a bit geeky…
It's not the fastest but couple it with a free CDN setup from CloudFlare and you've got a pretty good setup going for nothing except your domain registration fee. Of course, if you're happy running on the OpenShift domain instead of your own then you don't even have that expense.
Hope someone finds this of some use. I've been pretty pleased with what I've accomplished with it so far.
EDIT: In case anyone wants to have a play, I've just found a how-to for getting WordPress running on OpenShift. Makes it all pretty easy, wish I'd seen it when I was first looking at it.
Thanks mate
