PHILIPS 5.1 3D Blu-ray Home Theatre System for $298 save $100. As my HTS5593/12 was not working and went to replace the system and found this in the store.

So you replaced a non working Philips with another Philips…. this doesn't sound good at all.

    • I see what you did there…

    • I am yet to replace.. Just thinking off.. But the old one was good, you wont get it at the price with all features as listed.

I bought it for $199 after it is posted in Ozbargain.

  • Pretty happy with my Bing Lee Yamaha RX something deal nearly double the price of this though.

you get the quality you pay for

    • Philips are really underrated when it comes to audio fidelity imo. They make some of the best sub-200 dollar headphones on the market.

In case people are unaware, Philips also do all of the electronics and audio for Bang & Olufsen (who have a cult-like following); who then promptly slap a badge on the product and resell it for twice the production cost.

      • It's not that much these days. A few items back in the day. 80's 90's I think, they sourced a few things for B&O.
B&O does use a lot of other brands equipment.
        Thier plasmas are Panasonic panels
Their tv's have been Samsung and sharp, years ago sharp & Philips.

  • Any wireless Home Theater System currently available?

    • You could buy wireless module separately for this module. But not sure about the price.

  • Can I play my HTPC through this (HDMI)?
I don't see HDMI input listed, and can't find a picture of the back either..

    • Check it here.

      http://www.philips.com.au/c/home-theater-systems/3d-blu-ray-…

I am also not sure about it.

      • There is no HDMI Input as per its user manual.

        • :(
I just want a cheap one with HDMI in for playstation and xbox and bluetooth would be nice..

    • Does your HTPC have an optical out port? This has an optical port on it that you can use.

Unless you're very keen on DTS-HD and Dolby TrueHD I don't think you'll be any worse off..

Note: This also supports ARC on it's HDMI out port. If your TV also has an ARC capable port, you can listen to your TV through this.

      • Dunno.. never used one before.
        I'll look tonight.
