Just wanted to know if it was worth getting someone to bring me a S4 or the new iphone from the US. How does this affect warranty?
and if so does anyone know the best place to get them?

Both the i9500 and the i9505 will work well in Australia, Samsung doesn't offer an international warranty though.
Consider a HTC One or wait for the Nexus 5. Samsung's UI is a shambles.
S4 comes in a few varieties so that can be an issue with imports. It still isn't clear to me what the situation will be with the iPhone.
It is rarely useful to import from the US, better to go with UK (for network reasons) or Hong Kong.
Warrantee will depend on the reseller.
Edit: Sorry you meant for someone to buy it for you. I doubt they will get a better deal than you just buying off the internet, and warrantee situation wouldn't be good.
