Noise cancelling headphones - planes

Need a bargain… some over-ear noise cancelling h/phnes. (I have a big head)
See Kogan recently had a special on the Bose QC15…

Quite open to suggestions. Must be something that will last… I am open to all options from Creatives to Bose - $100 - $300 is open, as long as value for money (this is ozbargain after all!).

Whilst sound quality is somewhat important, my ears have been impacted by surfing in cold water for too long so I probably wont notice the perfect spectrum of sound…

Continued wear comfort and reasonable noise cancelling - especially the aircraft drone - would be paramount…

I have a pair of logitech G35 headphones for gaming that start to hurt after wearing them for a few hours.

If your ears start to hurt, just activate crossfeed.

  I have these too and really like them. However, things to be aware of: 1) OP asked for over ear style, and these are on ear; and 2) the pads do deteriorate over time. They are easily replaced, but I was disappointed that this was necessary.

I fly quite a bit for work and I use a pair of Creative Aurvana X-Fi NC - http://au.creative.com/p/headphones-headsets/aurvana-x-fi

I'm not an audiophile so can't comment on sound quality, but happy to say the NC function works well (my wife says there's a slight high pitched tone though)

  Yeah. I did see that one post but the purpose was to stop a voice which kinda doesnt work. That didn't feature in my requirements.
  
  Thanks for the tips. The sennheiser reviews seems to make me believe too small cups. My ears start physically hurting after a few hours if too tight.
