Recently bought some Havaianas from Surf Stitch and wanted to return two of the pairs due to not being a great fit. There was a return label inside with instructions for free returns.
I followed the instructions, packaged them up and took to Australia Post. There was a huge queue and I was nipping in during working hours, i'm also 7 months pregnant so asked the employee at the door if I could just drop it off since it's a postage paid parcel. She said yes I could but if I wanted to wait i'd get a receipt to prove the return. Fair enough. I waited in the queue for about 20 mins only to get to the front, the lady at the counter scanned the barcode on the label and thanked me then called next in the queue. I asked could I have a receipt, she said no you can't have a receipt for this type of parcel. I told her about the lady at the door and she said the lady must have been confused with a different type of parcel as these ones don't allow her to give a receipt..? I asked how could I prove i've returned it and she said "because it's scanned into the system".
SurfStitch say they process returns in 24 hours, max 48 hours. I 've emailed them twice and they are saying they haven't received my return yet. I posted it last Monday and they should have gotten it on Tuesday. I am going to try get to Australia Post (difficult when you're working, have 3 kids and pregnant) and ask if they can find out what happened although i'm skeptical they will be able to help because I don't have anything with the barcode or the returns slip… I sent that all back with the parcel.
Just wondering if anyone can think of something else I could do as I feel like i'm never going to see the money again :(
This probably wouldn't help you, but make sure you get the receipt next time; everytime I have sent an item back, I have been given a receipt with tracking number, free returns included (eg the iconic)
