Filtered Water Solutions

Hey just looking at getting a Pura Tap or filtered water device for our new home.

Just wanted some advice of the most cost effective filters?

Thanks.

  • Any twin system will do it… All you need is a sediment and a carbon filter… generally a twin, nine inch filter system will see you through for 12 months… go easy on any sort of contracts, you can put in a generic system & get filters for less than $50 a year… heck if you're in Adelaide, i can steer you towards a whole system for $50, including filters. My advice? Take a look at the smaller companies…

That said, if you're in an older property with the taps coming straight out of the wall… let someone else do it :-) just saw the new home bit… ignore this last bit… it would be an easy install (easy as in DIY)

    • Okay sounds good, I'm in Adelaide so yes please send me further details.

      Thanks

  • we have had a great experience with this guy - http://www.psifilters.com.au/
he is in Tassie and we have bought four different filters through him over the years.

We can't drink the Perth water as is [flame suite on] and had a single above counter filter and have moved to a full reverse osmosis undersink system with storage tank…. it is fantastic… a bit dearer, but it is just amazing.

If you do buy from him, get the extra set of filters at the same time…. ebay has many poor quality items… water too important an ingredient to get wrong…. we have three boys and they love the water…. slightly sweet.

PS: He also sells a double tap if you want, that replaces your current tap and has two outlets… one for water and one for filter water (drinking/kettle/etc)

    • Do you install them yourself? If so how easy? There are so many to choose from which one do i get? Also it says it lasts for 22 thousand litres…so i wouldn't need to change the filter for like 10 years???

      • Yes. Very easy to install.
3 options on how to attach filter to water pipe. I generally connect mine to dishwasher supply.

It does last long but the volume is a misnomer as time is also a factor. I replaced mine about evey 12 to 24 months in Perth. In NSW it lasted longer. Perth ground water has more impurities.

Reverse osmosis. 12 to 18 months.

        • Why do you have to do it every 12 to 24 months?

        • The filters eventually clog up. The activated carbon is less effective and it may slow down water flow.

Keep the filter system but replace the cartridges. Just in case I was not clear.
