An oz-bargainer should make the bubble tea at home, it costs less than 50c per cup

      Please teach us the ways.

        http://www.thekitchn.com/how-to-make-boba-and-bubble-tea-980…

Ingredients can buy in Asian Groceries Store in China Town…

        • 1/2 cup sugar per serving !!!!

        • Are tapioca pearls called 'boba' around here though?

        • its called "pearl (珍珠)"

        • Hi Jv, Sugar levels can be adjusted to your taste. If you want to drink healthy, ask for no sugar next time, or 50% sugar. :)

      Don't these cause cancer?

Bad news for fans of the colorful novelty drink called tapioca tea, or boba tea:
…include cancer-causing chemicals known aspolychlorinated biphenyls or PCBs,

A single study in Germany found traces of chemicals in tapioca samples - hardly a cause to say bubble tea causes cancer. Traces of poisonous chemicals have probably been found in most any food most anywhere in the world.

        • While i agree a single study isn't much, i disagree that theres poisonous chemicals in everything.

What's the CSIRO or Dr Karl got to say about it?

      • Hi Jv again,

Here is a link to our safety report. :) All pearls/boba/bubbles we serve at Gong Cha are cancer-causing chemical free and safe to drink!

Australia has extremely strict import food regulations, so you can be rest assured that Gong Cha is 100% safe to drink!

I haven't drank these in years since i was a mindless teenager, now i get FREE water with my meals at most joints nothing is better then icy water on summers day at Maccas!

The pearls have a bad reputation for the general public as some say its like the equivalent of eating plastic.

Australia does have one of the strictest regulations on food, but there is always a way to bypass it if you know the right people and at time prepared to make a donation to the local council.

        • "nothing is better then"

          Than.

You don't have to have the pearls. You could always get fruit jelly or coconut instead. I tend to avoid the pearls myself as well.

        • Got a menu today. If you want an addition and not pearls, you can get Milk Foam, Aloe Vera, Red Bean, Pudding, Herbal Jelly, Ai-Yu Jelly, Coconut Jelly and Basil Seed.

  • Good deal.

Gong cha tastes nice, but not healthy to drink everyday. There will be no harm to drink once in a while.

    • Might be okay to have for 3 days in a row? :)

  • Meh, everything causes cancer if you have to much of it, people have been eating this stuff for years, and no cancer. In that case just don't even eat if that's what they suggesting.

  • just what we need another tea place
missed the froyo gravy train i assume?

  • I prefer boost juice, haven't touched a bubble T for years but remember using those big straws to shoot the bobas at things.

  • I love my bubble tea… Cancer and all.

  • I've only been able to try this once because I don't go into the city much, but I saw there's one opening in Springvale! Finally somewhere close to me.

  • Good stuff, I'm a huge fan of their teas!

    • Then you should vote up:)
