Probably early year I got a second hand one for 100 bucks.
Compare this to the Nokia Lumia or a basic Android phone. Hard choice ?
i bought an refurbed 3GS from these guys a few months ago. after waiting about 3 weeks for a shipment confirmation, i got an email instead saying they had oversold it and refunded my money.
ditto for an Ecko hoodie i bought around the same time. i'm a bit wary of these guys actually delivering what they offer for sale -_-

I gave mine to my mum when I upgraded, wiped it and updated everything. Turned off everything that she won't need and it's a great phone for her.
Not everyone needs the fastest, latest and greatest. Not to mention how quickly people who aren't the most gadget savvy can pick up on iOS they are still a good phone for a decent price.

I think your mum only use the iPhone 3GS for calling only, it doesn't need to be wifi, bluetooth camera… lol
a couple of Apps doesn't hurt, camera doesn't hurt….
once WiFi setup it'll be useful without using any 3G data….

Dunno what everyone else things but i think the max I would be paying now days for a 3gs is $100 maybe $120
I have a 3g and a 3gs 16gb in a drawer use them occasionally as ipods. using basic android now

I probably wouldn't want to use a 3GS any more, its aged quite a bit, just before I purchased my current Nexus 4, the 3GS was barely chugging along.

Apple are holding an event in San Francisco on 10 September. They are rumoured to be announcing a cheaper iPhone 5C. Might be worthwhile waiting to see what is coming.
No way near this price point though.

A cheap version (iPhone 5c) should be priced at $499-$599 for a base model while the 5S will keep the normal price point.
Can't compare a phone that's going to be triple the price.

and Apple don't want them to turn to Android!a big market in India, China, Indonesia, Brazil & others who still have lots of consumer not willing/can't afford to spend that much on iPhone & turn to cheap Android
so I assume it will be cheap as chip maybe with lot of features disabled/using lower spec such as A4 chips/5MP camera like iPhone 4? who knows!
Seeing how much better is iPhone 5 than iPhone 4. Wonders if my iPhone 4 will be okay when I go to the Blue Mountains for the weekend. Wonders if it's a safe place if ever chaos happens in the city.
