Pre-order at DSE.

Couple of confirmations on whirlpool.

Their website listing seems to be down, but it was $87.98 last I checked.

UPDATE: This Lasoo link seems to state that it's being extended.

  • I wonder if JB will do pricematch… probably if you ask.

    • Unless Dick Smith continue the deal until the release of GTA5 I don't think so.

  • .

  • From what I had heard last, Dicksmith had raised their prices to $117 or so when they first announced this deal. But if they've lowered it, that'd be awesome.

    • That's what I had feared too.

Some people on Whirlpool managed to score it at that price.. We'll know once release day comes around.

Best to check in-store prices make sure they're $88 when you pre-order.

Would it be illegal for them to jack up the prices?

      • Glad i'm not the only one with that fear! Unfortunately my receipt says nothing about the actual cost of the game, only that i've paid a deposit on it. But i've kept a screenshot of the price of the game when I placed the pre-order (today). So hopefully if they end up increasing the price on the 17th, I can whip that out, kick up a bit of a fuss and get it for $78. If not, I'll ask for my money back. Not ideal, but I think ii would be unfair of them to move the goalposts on me like that!

        • They seem to have omitted the price from the catalogue too… Wonder if that was done so they could jack it up.. Paranoia!

        • Well according to their website the price is back up to $108!!! But JB hifi and Big W are both selling it for about $89 so i'm assuming they'll let you price match and use your $10 bonus from the pre-order. If not, they certainly won't be getting my business. Though I'm assuming I have every right to get my deposit back even after the release date…

        • Seems DSE don't know what the deal is, but you should be able to get the $10 back:

          http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum-replies.cfm?t=2126283&p…

        • Thankfully they've put the price back down to $88 and according to their official Facebook page, it won't be any higher than that on release

  • taken down already :(

  • For those interested we're offering $79.95 for local stock (+ delivery if applicable) right up until the the launch day (17th September)

[EDIT: This includes the Pre-Order bonus code to fly the Blimp in the game]

    • Great deal for people able to pick-up in-store

lol. this is so dodgy.. but useful

      • Why is this dodgy?

        • +4

Cos Gamesmen have a new tactic here. They don't try and beat a price or post a deal recently, they just add a couple of bucks and try to hijack other threads.

        • While I admit we do keep an eye on gaming related posts on ozBargain, and post our deal if we have a reasonable or better offer, we have also been pre-ordering at this price since about June 17, and have not adjusted our price since.

I'm not saying you shouldn't add your price to another thread, that's just healthy competition. It's just that we'd like to see some deals posted as well?

  • wait if you put down a $10 deposit towards the full price of the item ($87.98) and then get $20 off shouldn't the price be $67.98 including the deposit?

    • The actual deal is Dick Smith will match your deposit on a GTA V pre order up to $10.

So on release day $67.98 will be payable instead of $77.98.

  • Good price but i prefer to pay $88 and get it at JBs midnight launch!

    • +5

If I bought a game at midnight it wouldn't get played for two days (I'd fall asleep when I got home and feel too tired for games for a day or two) I know, I know, life's sad after 30.

      • +1

Haha, I have the option to either pull an all nighter then leave for work at 6:30am… Or take a sicky.

      • +5

I took 7 days annual leave when Diablo 3 was released. Worst decision of my life. :| No more taking sickies for games now :|

    • +1 for JB midnight launch

I'm knocking off at 11pm so will be at my local store before midnight. Should get a good 5hrs that night then enough time to sleep (7hrs) before the next shift at work!

  • +3

Guys this is a much better deal if you want to pre order
    http://www.blockbuster.com.au/games/grand-theft-auto-v-plays…
    $61.16 with free delivery.

    • From the fine print

The majority of our games ship from overseas and are subject to extended shipping times.
For new release games our products are usually shipped to you on their release date, this means you will receive the game in most cases 4-10 business days after the release date

I'll buy locally rather than wait an extra 2 weeks for GTA V

      • Nicky6 just curious, where are you getting your copy from? I'm still undecided but this Blockbuster deal is pretty cheap for PAL.

        • +1

I'll just get it where its cheapest on release day
It is a cheap price at blockbuster, if you're happy to wait
Just it looks like an aussie site, someone may expect a more prompt delivery

  • I'd be surprised if $79 wasn't the launch price at Big W/JB.

  • +2

region locked will be a bummer, otherwise i will buy from overseas right away

i will try and go for a price match on blockbuster

see if i can find a noob at jb or eb games to price match it

    • Dammit, didn't know it was region locked, I ordered a US version for PS3. So am I locked into US multiplayer?

Edit/ looked into it and its just for languages and DLC. DLC won't be a problem, I'll install it to my US account and play on the AU.

      • Anyway

Blockbuster are advertising their game as PAL

So it should work with AU DLC

I took the plunge and bought it for $61 delivered!

  • I would say its only the ps3 dlc that is region locked as all 360 dlc is region free. The warning Rockstar issued was for PS3 only.

  • Good post; and possibly the best price; but as others have said depends on the final price to determine if a good deal!

  • EB have GRID 2, Tomb Raider, and Bioshock Infinite for $35 atm, so you can score GTA5 for $70 with JBs 2 for 1 ;)

  • I will be at my local shopping centre at 11:30, either jbhifi, kmart, target or bigw, who ever has it for less, I have to get it at midnight, play till morning:)

negging this. called my local DS (macarthur sq) and they said launch price was $108, happy to revoke if the $78 price is confirmed
