Monster Hunter or Soul Sacrifice?

hi all,

going to get one of these games… to kill time on the very long haul to the states. never played them and probably the last RPG or strategic game i ever played was metal gear solid 1 PSX and FF7 dont know why i stopped playing after that.

well i do have both vita and the old 3ds, i read that SS is more story oriented then MH.

just like peoples feedback which is better as in action packed and no me walking around the world looking for a animal like FF series.

  • I haven't played monster hunter on the 3ds but I have on PSP so I'll be comparing this. I've also logged a few hundred hours on ss.

In most SS pacts you just walk up to the boss and start fighting it until either you or the boss dies. I recall in monster hunter the bosses start hiding, flying and do other annoying shit when they're about to die.

I'm not sure about monster hunter but in soul sacrifice dlc is continuously added with new bosses, pacts and offerings.

You mentioned rpgs like final fantasy; this game is nothing like that. You might want to look at p4g.

  • yeah cheers, after watching a few youtube clips looks interesting and something fresh going grab a copy soon of SS. now need to find one on sale.

  • Well… Monster Hunter is one of the best game ever.. it is not story telling game like RPG though, but it is really just being a hunter.. hunting monster to craft armor and weapon.. i played the series (6 games in total = 200x6=1200hrs).. and i still find it interesting until now.. i recommend it all day long to everybody, and hunt with your friend is always a great experience…

    • I've been a fan since the PS2 days of MH but tbh I'm not feeling the Tri/3 games at all. I've played maybe 60-70 hours of 3G and I bought two copies to play with my wife but I think I prefer Soul Sacrifice. The pick up and play aspect appeals to me more and the online multiplayer is where it is at. Hopefully Crapcom will add this to MH4 (as reported they will)

  • is MH Frontier G more of a MMO like FFXIV? wonder if it would be cross platform like FFXIV

    • yes, its quite different than the normal monster hunter games

  • +1

    persona 4 for jrpg

  • Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate is good choice if you are considering to spend lots of time for it. The series is one of the best action RPG game and have high learning curve but really rewarding once you get past the hurdle.

If you live in Sydney i can lend a hand too :)

  • +1

just picked up SS on gumtree and MH freedom unite on PSN for under 8 bucks. I see how I go. then most likely get 3 ultimate on 3ds

    • MHFU was the best in the series imo (for its time)

      • looks like im in for a treat. 8 bucks cant go wrong
