I really can't comment on Sydney, but the best I have seen in Qld was 10% off, which was an AGL Family and Friends rate that was on this site I believe. The Big Switch has been doing some discounted electricity offers lately. Look for one with the biggest discount without locking you in for the long term, so if something better comes up, you can switch. Also watch out for what is discounted, because often the base fees for reading the meter is not included in the discount. Some will offer a fixed percentage off and some will offer say $100 off for every year you stay, or one month free (your lowest spend), so it is really dependent on your usage.
