EXPOSED the Crazy Domains Hidden Scam

Moved to Forum: Original Link

Crazy Domains just debited my credit card for no reason for a product that I never renewed.

When I emailed them for a refund they told me all sales are final.

What they do is keep your credit card details and debit when they feel like.

This is illegal, under consumer law ALL Australia consumers the RIGHT to a refund.

When I looked into the company deeper I found that they moved the company to Dubai to avoid paying tax in Australia and avoid Australian Consumer law.

NEVER USE CRAZY DOMAINS.

    Auto-renewal …

  • You must have set it to auto renew.

  • I believe as long as whatever it was you did buy didn't have any conditions that said it would be automatically renewed unless you opted out then what they have done is illegal. Contact your credit card company, let them know that someone has debited your card without permission and see if they treat this as fraud, and let the crazy guys know that you are doing this, that's probably what I'd do anyway.

    NEVER USE CRAZY DOMAINS

    Ditto.

Heaps of issues reported on Whirlpool. They are a foreign company and don't issue tax invoice and you are not charged GST. There are cheaper alternatives like VentraIP who are actually Australian.

We have also banned CrazyDomains ads here on OzBargain for a long time. Can't stand a hosting company trying to sell domain names with heavily airbrushed Pamela Anderson.

If they are not registered for GST (which they don't need to be) they aren't allowed to charge GST. I have a business registered in Australia and I don't charge GST.

      • How does that work when you bill services that are subject to the GST against an Australian Business?

        • My services aren't subject to GST because I'm not registered. I pay GST for my business expenses and cannot claim them back. so the cost of the gst.

GST registration is optional for a business where their annual turnover (not profit) is less than a certain amount.

      • That just means a GST-registered Australian business buying a domain from this registrar would not be able to claim back the GST at BAS. So on the face value two registrars might both charge $12/year for a domain, but the "real cost" for a business buyer (which I presume most people buying .com.au) is different.

    • VentraIP look good but I find it interesting how someone can essentially switch from saying we're Australian to we're American depending on what version of their site you visit. Granted, on their US site, it says the company was originally formed in Australia.

  • I intended to move my domains and web hostings to cheap crazies, now i worry its biz cannot last long, give up this intention, thanks for the informative thread and comments.

  • They have the company registered in a Dubai Internet City Free Zone in the UAE so there is still an avenue of appeal to the Free Zone Authority against them.

I had an issue with an "Australian" business registered in UAE free Zone in Ras Al Khamieh. There is a court process set up just for Free Zone registered businesses. As the business set up there are paid up with capital (no such thing as a $2 company in a free zone) a claim will always be taken seriously by the owners of the business.
